Pitcher Grind Down
- Jimmy Nelson – Nelson is enjoying a pretty solid rookie season. He owns a 4.10 ERA with a K/9 of 7.7. He’s pitched well away from him and will get another road start today against the Cubs. The problem is that the wind is blowing out in Wrigley. The total for this game is set at 10.5 runs so make sure to avoid both pitchers here. Rating = 3
Salaries: $ FD, $12750 DD, $7000 DK, $NA FF, $16300 SS, $10800 FTD

Milwaukee
Ryan Braun – The entire Brewers lineup is in play today. The wind is blowing out to center at 15 MPH and the total for this game has moved all the way up to 10.5 runs. Stack up both offenses here.
Additional Plays: Scooter Gennett, Aramis Ramirez, Jonathan Lucroy, Khris Davis
Chicago Cubs
Jorge Soler – The rookie has been impressive in his short stint in the majors. He has shown great power thus far and a strong wind heading out to center will help him add to his major-league resume. I’m predicting a homer from Soler in this one.
Additional Plays: Starlin Castro, Javier Baez, Arismendy Alcantara, Luis Valbuena

Pitcher Grind Down
- David Price – Price is looking to bounce back after an awful start against the Yankees. He gave up 9 straight hits to the Yanks and ended up getting pulled early which rarely ever happens to price. The good news is that he gets to face an Indians offense that is ranked 27th in wOBA vs. LH pitching. He should be in for a nice bounce back game, but he’ll have a tough time receiving run support with Kluber pitching opposite him. Rating = 8
Salaries: $10900 FD, $20500 DD, $12700 DK, $NA FF, $31100 SS, $21750 FTD
- Corey Kluber – Kluber has really pitched well this season. He owns a 2.52 ERA and an impressive K/9 of 9.9. He has always pitched well at home and it sounds like the Tigers may sit Miguel Cabrera for a few more days. That really helps Kluber’s value as he can now pitch around Victor Martinez if he has to. His high strikeout rate puts him in play in all leagues. Rating = 8
Salaries: $10500 FD, $20850 DD, $11700 DK, $ FF, $30400 SS, $21300 FTD

Detroit / Cleveland
With Price and Kluber on the mound, you can safely avoid all hitters from this game.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Chris Young – Young has not pitched nearly as well as his 3.17 ERA suggests. He owns a 5.22 xFIP and he has a low strikeout rate of 5.6 per 9 innings. He’s a sizable underdog against the A’s who are a very patient offense at the plate. There are better pitching options today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7000 FD, $5700 DD, $7700 DK, $NA FF, $20300 SS, $14700 FTD
- Jason Hammel – Hammel has been a boom or bust option over his last few starts. In his last 7 outings, he has given up 5+ earned runs 3 times and has held his opponents under 2 earned runs 3 times as well. His price has come way down and he still owns a 3.72 ERA on the season. At his price, he’s in play on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 6
Salaries: $6700 FD, $13900 DD, $7400 DK, $ FF, $19200 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Seattle
Robinson Cano – Cano has hit Hammel well in his career. He’s 12/31 with 3 XBH’s off of him. He could be a very sneaky play at 2B if Hammel ends up having another rough outing.
Additional Plays: Dustin Ackley
Oakland
Brandon Moss – Moss, like the A’s offense, has been extremely cold over the last couple of weeks. He’s 4 for his last 29 with only 1 XBH during that stretch. That said, I think the A’s bounce out of it today. Not only do they head home for this series, but they get to face Chris Young who does not strike many batters out.
Additional Plays: Stephen Vogt, Coco Crisp

Pitcher Grind Down
- Trevor Cahill – Cahill’s ERA may say otherwise, but he’s actually pitched pretty well this season. He owns a 3.73 xFIP with a K/9 of 8.1. He does walk quite a few batters (4.1 per 9 innings), but with a big ballpark at his back, he can afford to be a little more aggressive with hitters. I won’t be targeting him on single-pitcher sites, but he’s in play for GPP’s and multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 6
Salaries: $5700 FD, $9750 DD, $6800 DK, $NA FF, $13000 SS, $9750 FTD
- Tyson Ross – Always target Ross when he’s pitching at Petco. He owns a 1.90 ERA at home this season with 98 strikeouts over 94 innings of work. He’s also held hitters to a .191 batting average. Dollar for dollar, Ross is my favorite play of the day. He draws a terrific matchup against the D-Backs who are ranked 27th in wOBA over the last 30 days. Rating = 9
Salaries: $8800 FD, $17550 DD, $9500 DK, $ FF, $24400 SS, $17300 FTD

With the wind blowing out in Wrigley and another game in Coors Field, you don’t need to waste your time by targeting any of the hitters in the pitcher-friendly Petco Park.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tim Hudson – Hudson is coming off of a terrific start against this same Rockies ball club. The problem is that he has to face them in Coors Field this time around. The total is set at 9.5 runs and there are much safer pitching options available. As always, avoid pitchers in Coors. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7200 FD, $15800 DD, $6500 DK, $NA FF, $19100 SS, $15400 FTD
- Franklin Morales – Morales is never a recommended play, especially when he is pitching at home. He owns a 5.14 ERA on the season with a low K/9 of 6.2. The Giants should be licking their chops for this favorable matchup in Coors. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5200 FD, $9850 DD, $5500 DK, $ FF, $13000 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Francisco
Buster Posey – You get one of the hottest hitters in baseball against a lefty in the hitter-friendly Coors Field. It’s going to be hard to roster any catcher not named Posey today.
Additional Plays: Hunter Pence, Pablo Sandoval, Mike Morse
Colorado
Corey Dickerson – Hudson’s 1 earned run in his last start came off the bat of Dickerson who hit a solo HR. Dickerson has hit RH pitching well this season with a .315 batting average and a .415 wOBA.
Additional Plays: Charlie Blackmon, Justin Morneau
