Pitcher Grind Down
- Nick Martinez – One thing that is for sure, when I see some of these below average Rangers starters going, I like to attack them. This includes Martinez who has a 5+ ERA on the year with a 1.61 WHIP. Even against the Astros, he needs to be avoided. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5000 FD, $9950 DD, $6000 DK, $NA FF, $13000 SS, $8950 FTD
- Dallas Keuchel – Keuchel seems to go through spurts of pitching very well and then getting hit hard. Recently, he has been pitching better and is coming off a good performance against the A’s. This has been a tough matchup for Keuchel as the Rangers hit LH pitching well and have put up 9 earned runs in their last two meetings. I think there are better options at his price point today. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7600 FD, $15750 DD, $8400 DK, $ FF, $21700 SS, $15500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Texas
Adrian Beltre – Beltre continues to be cheap (FD) and makes a great option at his price. Beltre has a wOBA of .417 against LH bats this year.
Additional Plays: Elvis Andrus
Houston
Jason Castro – Martinez has been mashed by LH bats this year. He has allowed a wOBA of .390 to lefties this year making Castro a great cheap option at the catcher position.
Additional Plays: Dexter Fowler, Jose Altuve, Chris Carter

Pitcher Grind Down
- Rick Porcello – Other then one bad start, Porcello has been a consistent starter for the Tigers. He has shown the ability to pitch deep into games as he has lasted 7 innings + in 7 of his last 9 starts. His 5.30 K/9 rate hampers his fantasy value a bit today, but if he can pitch around Abreu today, he should be in store for a quality start. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8200 FD, $15050 DD, $8000 DK, $NA FF, $20300 SS, $14650 FTD
- Jose Quintana – Quintana’s season has really cooled off recently. In the month of August, he has a 5.08 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .287 off of him during that span. This matchup against the Tigers is not the time to feel he gets back on track and I suggest you avoid him today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7000 FD, $14200 DD, $7200 DK, $ FF, $19700 SS, $15100 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Detroit
Victor Martinez – Now with Miggy out, Vmart becomes the easy top option against a left handed pitcher. If he is still Catcher eligible at your site, get him in the lineup.
Additional Plays: Rajai Davis, Nick Castellanos
Chicago White Sox
Adam Eaton – Eaton is healthy again and has been great since coming back from the injury. He has 10 hits in his last 6 games, including 3 extra base hits.
Additional Plays: Jose Abreu
Chicago Cubs at St. Louis

Pitcher Grind Down
- Travis Wood – Wood is coming off one of his better starts of the season, but is still not a fantasy option. He has a 4.72 ERA and 1.48 WHIP on the year and has allowed 8 earned runs in 3 starts to these Cardinals. He is a huge underdog today and should be avoided. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6600 FD, $9900 DD, $6800 DK, $NA FF, $14900 SS, $9650 FTD
- John Lackey – Other then the one poor start against Baltimore, Lackey has been very good since coming over to the Cardinals. He has allowed 2 or less earned runs in his other 4 starts and now has a good matchup against the Cubs. Lackey makes a decent GPP option today. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7800 FD, $13500 DD, $8600 DK, $ FF, $20600 SS, $13250 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago Cubs
Jorge Soler – I am putting him here because he is such a cheap option at some sites (DK). He looks amazing in his first few starts and the ball just flies off of his bat. Taking a GPP flier while he is still cheap on not a terrible idea.
St. Louis
Matt Holliday – Well Holliday is enjoying the Labor Day weekend has he is coming off a crushing of the Cubs yesterday. He had 2 home runs yesterday and has a great matchup against Wood who allows a wOBA of .356 to RH hitters.
Additional Plays: Jhonny Peralta,Yadier Molina
Oakland at LA Angels

Pitcher Grind Down
- Scott Kazmir – Kazmir has been a bit up and down recently. He is coming off a 7 earned run performance against this same Angels squad. Due to his recent struggles and his high price, Kazmir is a GPP option only today.
Salaries: $8100 FD, $17750 DD, $7700 DK, $NA FF, $24200 SS, $NA FTD
- Matt Shoemaker – Shoemaker has been very good recently, but now has a tough matchup against the A’s. Shoemaker has not allowed more than 2 earned runs in his last 7 starts and is coming off 2 very good performances. He has 21 strike outs in his last 20.1 innings and makes a good option against a struggling offense. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8200 FD, $15350 DD, $9000 DK, $ FF, $23100 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Oakland
With the Oakland bats struggling and Shoemaker pitching very well, I will be avoiding them today.
LA Angels
Mike Trout – Trout is a stud and is in play anytime he faces a LH pitcher. Trout has 9 hits in his last 29 at bats, including 2 bombs.
Additional Plays: Albert Pujols
Milwaukee at San Francisco

Pitcher Grind Down
- Kyle Lohse – Lohse has been hit or miss recently, but does have a 3.73 ERA on the year with a 1.19 WHIP. His 12-7 record is nice, but his 6.47 K/9 rate does not help his fantasy value. A win will be tough to achieve with Bumgarner on the mound against him which depresses his value as well. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6800 FD, $14950 DD, $7900 DK, $NA FF, $19500 SS, $14700 FTD
- Madison Bumgarner – Well, Bumgarner has ripped off a great start, only to get hit in his next start. He is coming off a ridiculously good 9 inning, 1 hit, and 13 strike out performance against the Rockies. He now has a tough matchup against the RH heavy Brewers lineup, but could be the pitcher with the highest upside on the board today. Rating = 8
Salaries: $10200 FD, $22150 DD, $11200 DK, $ FF, $27400 SS, $20600 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Milwaukee
Even with a good matchup, Bumgarner has an elite arm and could be in line for another double digit strike out day. Avoid the bats.
San Francisco
Pablo Sandoval – I like the panda today against Lohse as Sandoval has a wOBA of .361 against RH pitching this year.
Additional Plays: Angel Pagan
