2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Weather Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in Pebble Beach, California, and amongst some generally rainy weather, we also have one of the ugliest days I’ve ever seen since I started forecasting PGA events a decade ago.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Weather Forecast

Thursday, February 1st

Off and on showers are the biggest issue here. Winds around 10mph, but we’ll be dodging raindrops throughout the day.

Friday, February 2nd

Very similar to Thursday with showers possible all day (especially early), winds around 10mph with stronger gusts.

Saturday, February 3rd

The calm before the storm. Winds are light at 5-10 mph, and rain chances are relatively low.

Sunday, February 4th

Nasty stuff incoming. Heavy rain moves in on Sunday, and winds get cranking as well. There’s no “good time” here, both the morning and the afternoon are nasty, with sustained winds over 30mph and gusts likely reaching 50mph or higher. With the weather being nasty all day, I don’t see an edge, and think they might need to cancel golf on Sunday alltogether.

Monday, February 5th

In case the event goes into Monday, we want golfers teeing off as late as possible, as winds will start very strong (gusts over 30mph) and gradually taper off through the day. Heavy rain is possible again, especially early

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Weather Thoughts

There doesn’t appear to be an edge in the first 2 days, with similar days on Thursday and Friday, but the weekend and/or Monday could provide an opportunity in the final round. The only edge I see is if the event gets booted to Monday, to focus on late day golfers, as they would get slightly lower winds than morning golfers.
