If you’re looking to redeem BetMGM’s 20% deposit match, the first and most important thing to know is you’ll be subject to meeting a 10x wagering requirement. This means that with your own money, you must wager 10x the amount of bonus funds BetMGM issues you.
For example, I could deposit $1,000 in cash and get $200 in sports bonus. Because I got $200 in sports bonus, that means I have to wager $2,000 of my own money within the next 30 days. If I don’t successfully do that, any winnings in my account earned by wagering my sports bonus as my stake expires on me.
It’s important to know that, because BetMGM’s $1,500 first bet insurance works as a great choice if you can’t meet the wagering requirement. With this promo, I could wager $500 on the Nuggets to beat the Timberwolves and get five $100 bonus bets back, but only if I lose.
That’s because BetMGM gives back five bonus bets equal to 20% of the money you lost if your bet is $50 or more. If I wagered $20 on the Timberwolves to cover -2.5 points and lost, I’d get one bonus bet back equal to $20. I’d have seven days to use my bonus bets before they’d expire.

The Nuggets’ moneyline odds of +110 are enticing to me, and I don’t think it’s worth betting on their -115 spread odds when there’s a good chance at winning your bet by simply backing them after they’ve won their last three by an average of 13.3 points.
I’d entertain my first bet being at least $50 so I get five bonus bets back to try and make up for my loss if the Timberwolves defend home court. With that being said, you only need to wager what you’re comfortable with, as getting one bonus bet back still gives you at least one chance at redemption.
