Big Events Breakdown Week 4: Five Grinders Qualify for Live Finals!
Another week of million dollar qualifiers is in the books and, as usual, there were several RotoGrinders members who showed up at the top of leaderboards across the industry. For those of you who might not be aware, Fanduel, Draftstreet and DraftKings are giving away $1,000,000 to the winner’s of their respective football championships, and another round of qualifiers kick off this Sunday. StarStreet is also providing their users with quite a treat, sending their finalists to the Playboy Mansion to compete for $250,000. Big prizes will continue to be up for grabs for weeks to come, but let’s take a look in the rearview mirror and review the big Week 4 winners… All RotoGrinders members will have their names bolded.

A big congratulations to kingspoint11 for winning an FFFC seat! He is currently ranked 39th on the NFL Grinder Leaderboard, in addition to being our #64 player in the TPOY rankings. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him win another seat to the big dance. No leaderboard is complete without an appearance from Condia, and he rolls out two top-ten finishes, this guy is just a DFS machine. He is currently ranked first in our NFL Grinder Leaderboard, Monthly Grinder Leaderboard, as well the being the top dog in our overall rankings. Dinkpiece takes down 9th place, and he is another very accomplished grinder. Dink currently holds the #8 spot in our overall rankings in addition to being 5th in the NFL Grinder rankings.

Boggslite was about as close as you can get to winning an FFFC seat without actually winning one. He came up just .16 short of taking the qualifier, so you know that had to be tough to swallow. Boggs rolled out the Drew Brees-Jimmy Graham combo and it came so close to victory… I guess you can’t really complain about taking home $2,500, though. Boggslite currently holds down the #10 spot in our TPOY rankings. Tonyd123 took down 6th place, and he currently finds himself at #53 in the TPOY rankings.

After a second place finish in this tournament last week, MrTuttle takes home the DFFC seat this time around. Congrats Tuttle; finishing in the top ten of this tournament two weeks in a row is tough, but finishing in the top two both times is just unreal. A tip of the cap to you, sir. This tournament was full of big-time RG names, as killb2482 (2nd in NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished 4th, followed by mbomb44 (3rd in NFL Grinder leaderboard, 2nd in overall leaderboard) in 5th (as well as 10th), dinkpiece (5th NFL, 8th overall) had two entries in 6th and 7th, and the number one overall grinder condia rounds out the list at #9. There is no good reason that we won’t continue to see these same names at the top of DFFC scoreboards throughout the season.

What a great week for ehafner to win himself a DFFC seat. This week was the first edition of his new article on RotoGrinders, where he reviews how he built his lineup and the thought process behind it. He certainly had a nice sweat as it didn’t look too great for him coming into Monday Night, but Darren Sproles had his best game of the season exactly when ehafner needed it. Hafner finds himself at #3 in our overall rankings, so this kind of performance is to be expected. Yet again, MrTuttle finishes in the top two and was just under four points away from securing another DFFC seat. Jlowery73 wrapped up three top-ten finishes, taking home 4th, 9th and 10th place. Jlowery sits at #15 in our overall rankings in addition to being #26 in the TPOY rankings. Our very own Notorious rings in at #7, and he sits in 10th place in the overall rankings, and is currently in the top 60 in NFL, MLB and NBA. A true year-round grinder.

Ehafner secures his second seat to the DFFC in this one. With two chances to strike gold, you really have to believe in his chances to seriously contend for the $1 million. What a rush it must have been to watch Sproles scamper into the endzone a few times. Nsane comes in at #5, taking home $450, while Tuttle sits right behind him with yet another top ten finish. Chaosm83 finished in 8th place, and he is currently ranked 90th in our NFL Grinder leaderboard. He is especially active in Fanduel and DraftDay.

Yet another grinder takes a main event seat… Congratulations to SyracuseSlappers (SyrSlappers) on winning a trip to the Mansion! He currently sits in 347th in our TPOY rankings, but I would expect to see him continue to climb after this performance. There was more than a 13 point difference between first and second place, not to mention he also had an entry that won 7th place. Whiskeytavon4 was the second place finisher, and he currently sits in 79th in our overall rankings. Hoochy_24_82 (aka killab2482) came in third, followed by kingspoint11 in fourth, lbills22 (aka Gateman07) in fifth, and UncleRico778 rounds out the RG members in sixth place.

Only one entry out of the top ten did not belong to a RotoGrinders member. Hoochy_24_82 (aka killab2482) wins his trip to the mansion, and it’s not at all surprising considering he has had several top 10 finishes in SS qualifiers during the past few weeks. Naapstermaan wrapped up 2nd, 3rd and 10th place for a total of $2,000. He currently resides in the top spot of the TPOY rankings in addition to being #26 on the overall leaderboard. Whiskeytavon4 had the unfortunate 4th and 5th place finishes, which somehow left him with a grand total of 0$. Birdwings (4th in overall rankings, 4th in NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished 6th, while TommyG (115th in TPOY rankings) took home 7th and 9th place. Another impressive showing from the RG community.

TheTwoThree was the best of the RotoGrinders bunch as he took home $3,000 and a 7th place finish. He currently sits at #348 in our overall rankings. Cameron from RotoGrinders finished in 9th, and he is sitting in 26th in our NFL Rankings, 70th in the TPOY rankings, and 133rd in the overall leaderboard. Mattness (aka msidla) rounds out the top ten and is currently the #161 overall grinder in addition to holding down 60th place in the TPOY rankings.

TwoGun takes the FOC entry in Week 4 after finishing in 7th in this tournament last week. It wasn’t all that close either; a big game from Tony Gonzalez put him over the top on Sunday night. TwoGun is currently ranked 39th in the TPOY rankings, 66th in the overall rankings, as well as 12th in the NFL Grinder leaderboard. Quite an impressive resume and he will probably be a mainstay in FF leaderboards throughout the season. Nro (aka Kaetorade) finished in both 2nd and 3rd place, and this guy is a DFS monster as well. He currently holds down number 8 in the NFL Grinder rankings, 18th in the monthly rankings, and 11th on the overall leaderboard. Killab2482 finished fourth, followed by ehafner (what a weekend to be that guy) in 5th and bripc23 in 8th place. Bripc23 sits in the top 16 in the overall rankings, monthly rankings, NFL Grinder leaderboard, and just for good measure, the MLB Grinder leaderboard as well.

It’s not surprising to see many of the same names in the $22 Q. TwoGun finished in fourth place, followed by bowens1984 in 5th, whom you may remember from the RG Twitter Feed (and previously writing this article). Bowens currently sits in 88th place in the overall rankings in addition to being #95 in the NFL Grinder rankings. Nro had two entries finish back-to-back in 7th and 8th, followed by killab2482 in 9th and RossGrinderLee in 10th. RossGrinderLee (aka Rossome316) is currently ranked 184th in our TPOY rankings.

PapaCub (109th in the overall rankings) took down the $2000 by a few points, barely holding off JohnnyR373 (150th in the NFL Grinder leaderboard). Ehafner had four top ten entries, placing between 3rd and 6th. After that, it was four consecutive entries from tshirt, who sits in 45th in our TPOY rankings as well as 57th in the overall rankings.
Another very exciting weekend of NFL action and I really can’t wait until this Sunday. Last week, having a Peyton-Demaryius-Welker combination worked out very well for a lot of people, and many of the winning teams had a high-priced running back, either Adrian Peterson or Jamaal Charles, and the savvy owners let Darren Sproles lead them to victory on Monday Night. Tony Gonzalez big night helped a lot of people as well… It goes to show that you don’t have to throw off-the-wall lineups into these tournaments to take first place, but using two or three boom-or-bust guys in addition to your studs seems to be how most players won their finals seats.
It was another impressive weekend for the RotoGrinders community as only one of the big tournaments this week did not see an RG member place in the top ten. There were seven RG members who finished in 1st place in main event qualifiers, so our chances of seeing a RotoGrinders member take down a million dollar first prize is growing.
