Big Events Week 17: KillaB Wins FanDuel

rg homepage bigevents breakdown medium

In the last week of the NFL regular season, there wasn’t much in the way of major tournaments, but there was still plenty of money to be made across the industry. If you played in a GPP on FanDuel this weekend, you without a doubt saw killab2482 at the top of your leaderboard, because he won literally EVERY GPP that ran on the site this weekend. KillaB is clearly one of the top NFL minds across the DFS landscape, but this kind of dominance is pretty special. DraftKings also played host to a few major tournaments, including their weekly 200K along with the Week 17 50K Thunderdome, which featured a star-studded group of ten competing for a $25,000 first prize.

In 2013, we saw the industry take a huge step forward by offering bigger GPP’s and championships which has really driven interest to the major sites, and this might just be the beginning. All three of the big boys had multi-million dollar finals, where one winner eventually took home a million dollar first prize. It should be very interesting to see how these sites follow up next year, and you have to think that the prize pools will only keep growing. Sadly, we probably have to wait until the summer to find out, but at least the NBA and MLB can keep us occupied in the meantime!

Fanduel 300K Sunday Bomb

1 killab2482 $25,000
2 dus10law $12,000
3 sissyk12 $8,000
4 goferal $5,500
5 yellowbird $4,000
6 steamers518 $2,500
7 stewburtx8 $2,000
8 camelchasers $1,500
9 jimmykgb $1,200
10 martdog33 $1,000

The Bomb was just one of many GPP wins for KillaB, who as I mentioned earlier took down every single GPP on FanDuel in Week 17, so he clearly had a very profitable weekend. KillaB (2nd on the NFL Grinder leaderboard, 8th overall) rolled out the likes of Drew Brees, Matt Forte, Jerrel Jernigan and T.Y. Hilton, who produced near or at the top of their position on Sunday. The scoreboard for this tournament is pasted in below, so you can take a look at his entire team. Stewburtx8 finished seventh with a big game from his Peyton-Demaryius combination, and also hit big on one of the weeks popular RB punts in Knile Davis. Stewburt is 223rd on the NFL Grinder leaderboard and 279th in the overall rankings. Martdog33 (aka Tinpusher33) took risks with both Cordarrelle Patterson and Roddy White, but both receivers crossed the 20 point mark on Sunday and worked out wonderfully.

Below is the winning lineup that took down Sunday’s Fanduel $300k bomb, including every NFL GPP tourney on FanDuel this week:

DraftKings $200 Grand

1 rjd0808 $25,000
2 markgenorex $10,000
3 FKCoolers $7,500
4 headchopper $5,750

6 mirage88 $3,500
7 headchopper $3,000
8 MustSee-TV-Franchise $2,500
9 MustSee-TV-Franchise $2,000
10 jlowery73 $1,500

Congratulations to rjd0808 (437th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) for taking down the $25,000 first place prize in the 200 Grand this weekend. He got big performances out of Brees, Forte, Knile Davis and Jason Witten, along with solid point production out of McCoy, Brandon Marshall and the Titans D/ST. He won by a considerable margin (almost 23 points between him and 2nd place), so he didn’t have to sweat for too long on Sunday night. FKCoolers finished third, and ended the regular season as our 284th ranked NFL Grinder. Headchopper had two top-ten entries this week, finishing in both fourth and seventh place. He went against the grain with guys like Jerrel Jernigan, T.Y. Hilton and Jonathan Grimes, all of whom were under 7.5% owned. Chop was our 10th ranked Tournament Player of the Year and is 23rd in the overall rankings. Tslats (76th overall, 112th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished fifth by making some aggressive against the grain picks of his own, which paid off big. He was part of the 1.3% of the field that played LeGarrette Blount, who produced 33.9 FP’s on Sunday, and was also part of the 3.1% of the field that played Roddy White, who exceeded value with 23.1 FP’s. Mirage88 (23rd on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) followed behind in sixth, making his weekly appearance in this article. Mirage is definitely one of the most underrated NFL minds in the industry, and he’s proved this year that he can hang with anyone when it comes to pro football. Jlowery73 (18th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard, 20th overall) rounds out the top-ten.

DraftKings $50K Thunderdome

Finish Player Prize
1 CONDIA $25,000
2 delley $15,000
3 runitup $10,000
4 csuram88 $0
5 MrTuttle05 $0
6 TheTakeOVER $0
7 inbox $0
8 markgenorex $0
9 PrimeTime420 $0
10 Tommyg1979 $0

In case you’re unfamiliar with the Thunderdome tournament, it consisted of just ten entries, which is why only the top three got paid. While it was possible to have two entries per person into the event, it consisted of ten different players. It’s probably not surprising to anyone that condia was the eventual champion of this event, taking home half of the prize pool. Condia led the way with big games from Brees, Knile Davis, Demaryius Thomas and the Giants D/ST, and got pretty solid production across his entire lineup. He still holds the #1 spot in our overall rankings, as well on both the NBA and NFL Grinder leaderboard.
