2022 BMW Championship Weather Forecast and Projections for Wilmington Country Club

Article Image

We’re teeing off for the BMW Championship in Wilmington Delaware this week, and while we’ll see a few weekend showers, the wind will mostly cooperate for us.

As usual in my Golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps to soften and slow the course, meaning it helps as much as it hurts. With wind there’s no helpful side, it’s all negative impact, and the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the timeframe with the lightest winds, the time with the strongest winds, and to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can use then use this to your advantage making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

BMW Championship Weather Report & Forecast

Round 1 Weather Projection – Thursday, August 4th

Earliest tee times can expect calm winds to start, 0-5mph. Those winds will tick up to around 5mph for most of the morning hours. By the afternoon we’ll see winds increase a hair further, 5-10mph throughout the afternoon.

Round 2 Weather Projection – Friday, August 5th

A repeat of the great weather on Thursday. Calm winds to start, 5mph by the late AM, 5-10mph in the afternoon. About as good of weather as you could ask for.

Round 3 Weather Projection – Saturday, August 6th

Same wind pattern, with calm winds early and light winds in the afternoon, peaking around or a bit under 10mph. We will see the chance for some scattered showers through the weekend.

Round 4 Weather Projection – Sunday, August 7th

Almost a carbon copy of Saturday. 5mph winds through the morning, 5-10mph during the afternoon, with some scattered showers and storms possible.

Overall BMW Championship Weather Forecast

My goal is always to try to avoid peak winds, but when even the strongest winds are at or under 10mph, I don’t see any real reason to use weather when building lineups. Thursday and Friday are both similar weather days, with perfect AM weather, and good afternoon weather. We do have rain to contend with by the weekend, but with scattered afternoon showers and storms there’s not much you can do other than hope they stay away from the course. Stay tuned to @KevinRothWx for the latest.
