2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship Weather Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship this week in Southampton Bermuda, and for a place that is famous for storms that bring down ships and planes… we’re getting off pretty easy.

As usual in my Golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the time frame with the lightest winds, the time with the strongest winds, and to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship Weather Forecast

Thursday, November 9th

Winds are calm all day with no rain, the only perfect weather day that we’ll see.

Friday, November 10th

Winds should start around 5-10mph, but gradually increase to 15mph by the afternoon. There’s also a chance for some rain in the afternoon.

Saturday, November 11th

As of now it looks a bit breezy early on Saturday (15mph sustained) and slightly less breezy late Saturday (10mph). Showers are possible.

Sunday, November 12th

Our best chance of rain comes Sunday, as well as increasing winds that should start at 10mph sustained and reach 15-20mph by the afternoon.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship Weather Thoughts

As I mentioned in the intro, when it comes to finding a usable and predictable edge for PGA, wind matters a lot more than rain. In the case of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, you can get the better of the weather Thursday and Friday by going with a Late Thurs / Early Fri golfer. That isn’t to say I’m expecting dramatic splits between the morning and afternoon wave, just a subtle edge both days. The weekend could be more interesting, but pinpointing weather in Bermuda multiple days out is a bit tricky, as I don’t have my full forecast arsenal that I would have for a course in the US.
