What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play this week? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
headChopper: I’ll be playing the most volume in higher-dollar, smaller-entry GPPs, building 1-3 lineups by hand. I’ll also sprinkle in some large-field GPPs. These slates are wild, and who knows how Week 1 plays out with so many mismatches. When projected ownership gets updated closer to kickoff, I’ll be looking to stay underweight on anyone deemed chalky, and it’s very easy to take stabs at guys getting no ownership since we really have no clue how a lot of these games are going to play out.
MrTuttle05: Large-field tournaments – I will spread out receiving exposure. The WR position in CFB DFS is typically the position that has the most uncertainty surrounding it. Embrace that uncertainty in tournaments and take some shots on WRs who are projecting for lower ownership. I usually go out of my way to avoid eating chalk at WR.
stlcardinals84: I will be playing 10-15 entries in the larger-field tournaments. I am not going to go crazy with volume this week simply because there are so many unknown situations, and I feel like the edge grows over the next couple of weeks compared to this one. I plan to take two approaches on both sites. I will be overweight on the Mississippi State offense. I like the salaries on their skill players, and they are projected for 36 points in a game that should be semi-competitive. I will also be underweight on the Penn State offense. This makes me a bit nervous because we know they will score points, but they will almost undoubtedly blow out Nevada and go deep into the bench. You likely aren’t getting more than a half out of their starters, as they are favored by a ridiculous 50 points.
Jordan Vanek: I’ll be mixing in both large-field contests and smaller-field entries this week. It’s Week 1, which means we don’t truly know who these teams are or how the roles will shake out. My focus will be on targeting game environments with explosive potential, and the FAU/UMD matchup (only available on the DK slate) is one I really love. I can’t wait to see what this FAU offense looks like, and I’m hoping they come in at lower ownership.
What is your favorite correlation and why?
headChopper: Blake Shapen + Anthony Evans III – First off, there are many QB/WR stacks I like across both sites, and none really stand out much more than the others, so this stack is just slightly above many others.
