Indiana

This is the other DK only game and features a total of 68 points as we have two of the worst defenses in the Big 10. The injury situation to monitor for the Hoosiers is the status of RB Jordan Howard, who is questionable with a banged up knee. He was apparently banged up prior to last week’s game (which would have been nice to know last week) so he’s a risky roster this week. If he sits then Devine Redding would shoulder the load and become a viable value play against a Purdue defense that is 107th in rushing yards allowed per game.

With Howard out, the IU passing attack really took off and Nate Sudfeld continues to shred poor defenses. He’s no longer the $5,100 gift that he was last week, but even at $6,400, he deserves strong consideration, especially if Howard is out. Purdue features a weak secondary as they are 77th in the country, despite playing in a run heavy Big 10. He has plenty of weapons out wide and is a rock solid option if the weather cooperates. His top targets Ricky Jones, Simmie Cobbs and Mitchell Paige continue to be dirt cheap on DK and make for great punt options at a weak position. Cobbs is my favorite of the bunch as he’s really picked it up down the stretch and has at least 86 receiving yards in four of his last five games.

Elite Options – Devine Redding (if Jordan Howard out), Simmie Cobbs

Secondary Options – Nate Sudfeld, Ricky Jones/Mitchell Paige, Jordan Howard (if he plays)

Purdue

Purdue is typically an offense to avoid, but this week they draw the awful IU defense, so they present solid value opportunities. Austin Appleby will draw the start at QB as David Blough is out with a concussion. Appleby does have the ability to produce a big game so he’s worth a look in GPP, but he can also be very turnover prone and did lose his job to a redshirt freshman QB earlier this year. Purdue will lean on the run but Deangelo Yancey is their top WR and brings the ability to bust a big play. Indiana is 127th out of 128 teams in passing yards allowed per game so I like him as a cheap WR3 or flex play this weekend. He was solid during Appleby’s starts earlier this year and had 9 receptions for 117 yards last weekend.

Despite the return of DJ Knox, Markell Jones has taken over this backfield and is the RB to own. Indiana has struggled more against the pass than the run this year, but that’s not to say they’re a top notch run defense. They’re allowing 4.9 YPC on the season and Brandon Ross from Maryland had a career afternoon against them last weekend. The bigger concern with Jones is whether the carries will be there as he sometimes gets just 14 and other times will get 20+. He’s a high upside option for tournaments but there’s safer volume elsewhere.

Elite Options – Deangelo Yancey

Secondary Options – Austin Appleby, Markell Jones
