2024 Charles Schwab Challenge Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the Charles Schwab Challenge this week in Fort Worth, Texas, and I think we could see a potential weather edge on every single day.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

Charles Schwab Challenge Weather Forecast

Thursday, May 23rd

Things start off okay with 10mph winds and just a chance for some showers, but winds pick up in the afternoon to 15mph sustained with gusts over 20mph, and storm chances really climb. I think there’s a good chance those who tee off later in the day Thursday see a rain suspension for the day.

Friday, May 24th

We should be dry on Friday, but winds are still an issue, especially early. I expect sustained winds of 15mph and gusts over 20mph early, gradually tapering off to light winds by the late afternoon.

Saturday, May 25th

Dry through the weekend, but wind is still a problem. Saturday winds will start quite manageable and then gradually build into noteworthy winds by the afternoon.

Sunday, May 26th

Another upside-down day on Sunday (like we have Friday). That means winds will start fairly strong and taper off through the day.

Charles Schwab Challenge Weather Thoughts

This is the kind of weather I love, as each and every day gives us an opportunity for a weather edge. I greatly prefer a Thursday AM / Friday PM build, as you get the better of the wind both days. I also think heading into the weekend, the greatest weather falls for those who will either be early on Saturday or late on Sunday.
