Cognizant Classic Weather Report and Forecast

PGA golfer Lowry

The weather in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for the Cognizant Classic looks pretty great for golfing, though an occasional wind gust or rain shower is possible.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

Cognizant Classic Weather Forecast

Thursday, February 27th

This is the day we’re most likely to see rain, but I’ve got those rain chances capped at just 30%, and that’s only in the afternoon hours, so I wouldn’t expect a washout. Winds will be calm (0-5 mph) in the early morning and should slightly increase to a 5-10 mph wind for the late morning and afternoon.

Friday, February 28th

We could mix in an occasional stronger gust in the early morning, potentially over 15 mph, but sustained winds should be 5-10 mph throughout the day, and I expect the weather to stay solid for golf all day long.

Saturday, March 1st

Light winds only climbing a hair over 5 mph throughout the day, no precipitation.

Sunday, March 2nd

Closing it out with what I would consider to be a classic weather pattern. Light winds early, increasing a bit by the afternoon to 10-15 mph. Still good golfing weather, but a bit breezier than what we’ll see for most of the tournament.

Cognizant Classic Weather Thoughts

In general, the weather looks great, and I don’t see any major advantages. If you forced me to pick a wave, I have a tiny lean to a Thursday AM / Friday PM draw, as you could see slightly less wind both days. That being said, the winds never really look to be a problem; I don’t have a high confidence that either wave is better off than the other, and I don’t think that wave selection makes or breaks you here.
