Top CFB DFS Picks & Fantasy Pick’em Plays for Week 1

Will Howard: The Kansas State graduate transfer will have the reins to the Buckeyes offense this season, and a cupcake opening matchup against Akron gives him a good opportunity to mesh with a young receiving corps. I almost always tend to be underweight on Ohio State exposure in these games where they are massive favorites, and it always seems to come back to haunt me. I won’t make that mistake this season, and I like pairing Howard with a pass catcher in some tournament builds.

Ollie Gordon II: This is the biggest storyline of the Week 1 slate. Will Gordon face any punishment for his offseason DUI incident? We are almost guaranteed not to know until they run an offensive snap. That adds some risk, as does a matchup against South Dakota State that’s not quite as easy as what we would normally see in a season opener. Gordon is the best running back in college football, but he is absolutely not a lock on this slate. He carries RB1 upside but some downside as well, and I will be keeping a close eye on the news just in case we get some hints.

LeQuint Allen: If you are playing on DraftKings, Allen is the best value option available. He had 7 games of 100+ yards rushing last season and almost 1,100 yards on 245 carries. He is a true workhorse back, which is rare in this day and age of football. In a favorable matchup against a bad Ohio team, I expect Syracuse to feed Allen early and often. He has the upside for 200+ yards rushing at just $5,100.
