MAIN SLATE ANALYSIS
Main Slate Pitching – Upside, High Price Tags
Patrick Corbin at Dodgers
The Good – Strikeouts remain very healthy at 28%, extremely tough on LHBs which neutralizes the power of the Pederson/Bellinger/Seager types
The Bad – Walks are up a bit so far this year, swinging strike rate is down, hard contact rate could be better, a win is unlikely given Washington’s banged up offense, SIERA and xFIP could be better for a borderline ace
The Verdict – With Washington being a fairly sizable road underdog today, I am a little nervous with Corbin. The underlying metrics aren’t as strong as I would like, though his price tag isn’t overly outrageous. He’s in my GPP pool but is not a cash game core play.
