Week 4 of the NFL season kicks off with an NFC East showdown between the Cowboys and Giants at MetLife Stadium. Both teams come into the game with a 1-2 record, with both teams claiming a victory against the Browns as their only win. The Cowboys are 5.5-point favorites on the road in a game with a 45-point total. The Cowboys defense has been a particular disappointment this year, allowing the 5th-most yards per game and 3rd-most points per game in the NFL this season, after ranking top 5 in both yardage and scoring defense last year. The Giants offense has had its own struggles, ranking just 4th in the NFL with 15 points per game, so something will have to give up in this matchup. There is no major injury news for this game, with the biggest question mark whether wide receiver Darius Slayton will be able to suit up for the Giants. Cowboys vs. Giants Showdown NFL DFS Lineup Advice
Primetime Game History
Neither of these teams has played a primetime game this season. The Cowboys last played a major single-game contest in the playoffs last season, as they lost 48-32 in a shootout in the NFC Wild Card round to the Packers. Dallas was a 7.5-point favorite in that game, so it was no surprise that the two most popular CPT choices for the game were CeeDee Lamb (28.4%) and Dak Prescott (10.3%). The winning lineup for that game featured a Cowboy in the CPT spot, but it was Jake Ferguson with 8.3% CPT ownership, with Dak in the FLEX spot. The now departed Michael Gallup was the only other Cowboy in the lineup in the Dallas loss.
The Giants last primetime game was also against the Packers in Week 14 of last year. With Tommy DeVito leading the team to a win and Saquon Barkley scoring 2 touchdowns, that contest may not be as relevant to our strategy for tonight.
Looking at the last major Dallas single-game contest, we once again see a contest where a lower-priced, lower-owned CPT pass catcher lands on the winning roster with a big game that allows multiple high-priced players into FLEX spots. Often, we don’t want to avoid chalk entirely, but it can be critical to find at least one lower-owned but still viable option, even if it is at the CPT spot.
