Daily Batter Breakdown: Fri, Jun 20th
Welcome to the Daily Batter Breakdown. Each day, with at least 8 games on the night slate, I’ll breakdown some of the best top tier hitters to target based on matchup. The biggest split taken into account will be left/right, but each player card will also show park factors, player salaries and then a description of why I’ll be targeting him. Be sure to check out the FAQ for more information on specific stats.
A couple of bad pitchers on the mound in Coors makes this night’s slate seem like a bit of a crapshoot. I can guarantee a lot of the industry is going to be targeting Rockies bats considering how homer prone Estrada has been lately and even some will look to Brewers with Bergman on the hill. I do have a few of those guys but I’m picking a few others for everyone to diversify.

Chris Iannetta
Iannetta has been terrible lately and doesn’t get regular playing time but I love him as a sleeper catcher option tonight. He’s got a .934 OPS against left handed pitching this year and is cheap across the industry. All 5 of his homers have came against left handers and Joe Saunders is terrible against right handed batters.
| Jose Abreu | |||||||

Jose Abreu
Abreu has been out of control this year and should be in the all star game. His price is expensive, but not unreachable on a site like DraftStreet or DraftKings. He’s actually been better against right handed pitching with a .962 OPS and 15 of his 20 HR coming off right handed pitching this year. The White Sox aren’t good, but Abreu is and Nolasco is a terrible pitcher allowing a .867 OPS against right handed batters.

Scooter Gennett
Gennett continues to be underpriced in my mind across the industry as all he has done is produce since coming up. I love his matchup today in Coors Field against Bergman who has been solid but not a revelation since coming up. Gennett always has hit towards the top of the lineup and at these prices is still a great play in Coors today.

Josh Rutledge
Lots of love is going to be given to the Rockies lefties today and rightly so for how horrible Estrada has been lately, but one guy I really like is Rutledge. He’s been just average this year against right handers but in the last 2 years has hit them better than righties and Estrada this year has allowed a .911 OPS to right handers. This could be a homer happy day for Colorado and if you want a guy who might not be highly owned, don’t overlook Rutledge who has nice stats on the year.
| Brandon Crawford | |||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | ||||

Brandon Crawford
If you want to play a wild card pick that I think has a chance to have a really solid game, look at Brandon Crawford today. He bats at the bottom of the Giants lineup and he also isn’t that great of a hitter but he’s cheap everywhere and has proven to have a bit of power against right handers in his career. I think hitting in Chase is going to help him as he hits a lot more homers away from home and facing Collmenter who has allowed a .785 OPS against lefties will also help.
| Corey Dickerson | |||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left/Right Splits | 0.342 | 1.060 | 7.02% | 0.446 | ||||

Corey Dickerson
Dickerson is essentially my top play of the day today especially if he is leading off. Dickerson’s numbers are very good this year not mattering who he is against and with Estrada being terrible this year it makes him all that better. He’s cheap on most of the sites and has the potential to have a monster game tonight.
| Michael Bourn | |||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left/Right Splits | 0.293 | 0.742 | 1.22% | 0.328 | ||||

| Porcello – RIGHT | 0.286 | 0.777 | 7.84% | 0.346 | ||||

| 0.933 | 0.992 | $2,600 | $4,445 | $7,350 | $4,200 | $55,500 | $5,400 | $7,350 |
Michael Bourn
Bourn confuses me at times this year due to his poor start to the year but I look at his career numbers and I believe his 2,600 price tag on FD and his 4,445 tag on DraftStreet are ridiculous. He has power and stolen base potential especially against Porcello who has been not so great lately. Porcello impressed me at the start of the year but has really struggled, especially against left handed batters and I think Bourn is one of the safest plays today.
| Mike Trout | |||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | ||||

Mike Trout
I know I said I really like Dickerson as my top play of the day but my real top play not considering salaries has to be Trout. Trout has been absolutely out of his mind in the last week, and while his price is out of control, on a lot of sites he is still worth it. His matchup against Saunders is great even though Saunders has been effective this year because the demise is coming. Saunders’ career numbers are ridiculously awful and Trout is one of the top hitters in the game.
| Brian McCann | |||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | ||||

Brian McCann
McCann has been awful this year but I would like to think that he is going to get it together like I have been saying all year. He still has power and he still should hit right handers well like his career stats say even though he hasn’t done it this year. Jimenez has been homer prone lately and has somewhat struggled against lefties which makes me believe that McCann could have a big day today.

Joe Mauer
What in the world is going on with Mauer this year? He’s been terrible lately but the reality is that he’s a much better hitter than min price on FanDuel. I love his price across the industry especially against Noesi today and the 9 over/under that is set on this game. Noesi is pretty terrible and even though his ERA is ok, he’s peripheral stats are awful and he should allow some stats to Mauer today. I love Mauer as a cash game option especially on FanDuel.
