Daily Batter Breakdown: Wed, June 11th
Welcome to the Daily Batter Breakdown. Each day, with at least 8 games on the night slate, I’ll breakdown some of the best top tier hitters to target based on matchup. The biggest split taken into account will be left/right, but each player card will also show park factors, player salaries and then a description of why I’ll be targeting him. Be sure to check out the FAQ for more information on specific stats.
I should once again reiterate checking the weather status on all your games, seeing as I really messed up the weather last night. If you were looking at some of my games, I had gone hard on Verlander and a few Tigers bats, but being at work did not check the weather for the night’s games, costing me a decent amount of money. Anyways, on to tonight’s games which profile somewhat similar to last night’s.

Evan Gattis
Gattis had a monster game last night against a right hander in Coors Field and now gets to face Tyler Matzek, another prospect brought up by the Rockies tonight. The over/under is a tame 10 runs tonight at Coors, but it’s one of the best situations of the night. Gattis has a ridiculous 1.500 OPS against left handed pitching this year and should be utilized in all formats tonight.
| Chris Davis | |||||||

Chris Davis
Davis was a bit, nah, a huge disappointment last night against Workman who pitched a Workman-like game and really held the O’s in check. Look for the Orioles to get out of their funk tonight against De La Rosa who came back to earth after his monster outing the first time out. Davis doesn’t have the average but what you’re looking for in DFS is a one time or maybe a double dong and Davis raked against righties last year especially at home.

Howie Kendrick
I really had a tough time finding any solid matchups outside of the Braves/Rockies game and the Rangers, but the Angels look really nice to me. Kendrick has had a habit of leading off for the Angels and I like his potential against Milone today. Kendrick always hits well against lefties and has an almost .800 OPS against them with a .299 average this year.
| Chris Johnson | |||||||

Chris Johnson
Johnson has gone nuts in the last 2 days getting 6 hits in Coors Field and gets to take the field again tonight against Matzek who is making his first start. Johnson isn’t a great hitter but he hits for average and has a nice .902 OPS against lefties this year. Johnson is min-priced on DS and is close to minimum almost everywhere and makes a fantastic play tonight. For some reason, Chris Johnson the baseball player is so irrelevant that his picture ends up being Chris Johnson the football player. That’s all fine and dandy for me as long as his percentage owned stays low tonight.
| Andrelton Simmons | |||||||

Andrelton Simmons
Just like Johnson, Simmons may not be the guy who you think of when you think of the Braves against a lefty, however his 1.029 OPS against lefties this year would bed to differ. As you have probably noticed even though I am aware of Matzek’s prospect status I still think a rookie pitcher pitching in Coors for his first major league start has major downside and a few of these really cheap Braves who have major league experience make great plays.
| Shin-Soo Choo | |||||||

Shin-Soo Choo
The Rangers come into today as one of the most highly favored teams of the night in a hitter’s park. This should be nice but one might be worried about the fact that they have lost most of their team. Choo should be hitting 3rd today against Jacob Turner who has allowed at .937 OPS against lefties this year and Choo hits righties in his career at a plus .900 OPS.

| 0.907 | 0.897 | $3,000 | $5,693 | $6,750 | $3,200 | $6,400 | $4,500 | |
Gregory Polanco
There isn’t much stats to bring up about Polanco at the major league level, but I was able to watch the guy in person in the minors while he played in Indianapolis, and he looked like he completely outclassed the opposing team especially against right handers. He has power, speed, and discipline at the plate and as long as his price isn’t too great on any site, I wouldn’t feel bad rolling him out today. He’s clearly going to be a star so you might as well catch him at the bottom of the price range.

Mike Trout
Inbetween two prosepcts is a guy who used to be a prospect himself before becoming a full fledged star in one year in Trout. Trout is a special player who will get to hit at the top of the lineup tonight against Milone who hasn’t been great this year. Trout has a 1.038 OPS against lefties this year and a career .900 OPS against lefties. If you can get him at a discounted price, please do it tonight, and even if you have to pay full price, it’s still not a bad buy.

Jonathan Singleton
Singleton has been a bit of a mixed bag so far, alternating games of fantasy goodness with games of displeasure. There is no doubt the skillset this guy possesses but he is also trying to adjust to the major league game right now and brings a high risk to the table. The good thing is that he is cheap on most of the sites tonight, he is facing McCarthy who has been homer prone, and he’s at home in a nice homer park which should allow him to get a hold of one tonight. I would only really use him in GPPs unless his price is so low but he definitely brings the upside.

Corey Dickerson
The Rockies somewhat broke out during the latter parts of last game but it was mostly the end of their lineup who was doing the damage. With the news of CarGo going on the DL, Dickerson should be getting most of the at bats especially against right handed pitching. Hes still decently priced across the industry and I like him almost as much as Blackmon who is much more expensive. Dickerson’s numbers are actually better than Blackmon’s, he’s cheaper, and should be batting around the same spot. I’m not huge on this Rockies lineup against Teheran but I like Dickerson to homer tonight.
