DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for the Ryder Cup
Notorious: The trend that everyone will be talking about is that Team USA hasn’t won the Ryder Cup on European soil in 30 years. One thing that really stuck out to me is that the average driving distance on Team Europe is actually higher than Team USA. Historically, they have set up the courses in Europe to be very narrow and have penalizing rough, but that may not help the European side as much as it used to. I like the way Marco Simone sets up for the American team.
STLCardinals84: While the American team holds the all-time edge by a fairly wide margin, Europe has held its own in recent years. In fact, they are 11-6-1 in the last 18 Ryder Cups, and they haven’t lost on European soil since 1993. This will not be an easy task for the US team, and it’s telling that the odds have moved from around -200 for the USA a few months ago to close to dead even now.
Darddog: We’re looking at a new era of Europe’s Ryder Cup squad, as this is the first year in forever that Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia, Paul Casey, or Lee Westwood have not been included. I like what Luke Donald did with his squad, adding young studs like Ludvig Aberg, Nicolai Hojgaard, and Robert MacIntyre. They might not have the experience of old Ryder Cup teams, but this team is full of talent, and Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy are more than willing to step up to the plate in a leadership role.
hondizzle: To me, one of the biggest angles to look at this week is opportunity. Which golfers have either the chance to play the most matches and/or win the most points? I like trying to get my exposure to guys like Scottie Scheffler through someone like Sam Burns. Scottie and Sam are close, and this could be an overlooked pairing by some casual golf fans. This Ryder Cup will feature a ton of new faces for what has been a long-standing group of European vets. Picking which rookies could get some run might be a key to setting your lineups apart.
