DFS Tournament Report: May 6th
Another day, another massive slate of qualifiers with three big ones taking place on FanDuel and one on DraftKings. As you might expect, the best of the best turned out and there would be some big names taking down seats tonight. Let’s take a look at how it all went down.
FanDuel $4 Million World Fantasy Baseball Championship Qualifier #10
It would almost be a wire-to-wire victory for the eventual winner ganondorf as he surged into the lead after the first hour with home runs from Longoria and Simmons. He’d have to claw his way back though as beez1973 would take the lead with a Martin-Freeman-Gennett-Simmons core and then it would be moneysink moving into the lead after a second home run from the low-owned Peguero. ganondorf would move into the lead for good at approximately 10:30 PM EST riding the two-HR performances of Longoria and the red-hot Joc Pederson. Mbomb44 would make a late surge, moving all the way up to 5th place with 12 innings remaining, but there was no Mike Trout salvation and ganondorf held on for the top prize.

FanDuel $750K MLB PB Mansion Qualifier #39 ($500)
The action started off slow with a score of 11 points by ihaveareputation leading the way after the first hour. Things would heat up in the second hour and beez1973, with the same lineup that moved him to the top in the $4 Million Qualifier, would end hour #2 with 40.75 points which was more than 10 points higher than his closest competitor. He would hold onto that lead for almost the entire night but it wasn’t meant to be as a Mike Trout home run coupled with a Melky Cabrera three-run shot moved mbomb44 into the lead at 11:30 PM EST. No one else was within striking distance of mbomb44 and he would hold on to win the seat.

FanDuel $750K MLB PB Mansion Qualifier #38 ($25)
The lower buy-in Q’s usually require a higher score to win the seat and that was definitely the case tonight, as the winning score would top 70 points. Like ganondorf it was almost a wire-to-wire victory for eventual winner doug1174, as he was on top after the first hour on the basis of the lightly-owned Foltynewicz and the home runs of Longoria and Simmons. Another beez1973 lineup, this one with a deGrom-Martin-Freeman-Gennett-Simmons core, would move into the top spot for the next couple of hours but doug1174 would take the lead for good at 10:30 PM EST with another Longoria bomb and the second Joc Pederson homer. bcalicore had a shot to overtake him with 5 innings remaining and down by just .08 but was unable to manage the comeback and would have to settle for second place.

DraftKings $4M Fantasy Baseball World Championship Qualifier #11
When you have a qualifier with a $1,000 buy-in, you’re going to get the cream-of-the-crop in terms of who enters, and that was definitely the case in this event. ganondorf would start off with the early lead but then it was dandydon who would take control with a Choo-Pederson-Peguero led lineup. There was someone named GrindersCal lurking in second or third for a couple hours, but he’d run cold at the end and finish one short of the money. The Melky Cabrera three-run home run off of former Yankee great (cough cough) Joba Chamberlain would move dandydon down to second. It was rayofhope, who had Cabrera and a five-player White Sox stack, that would surge way into the lead and it was a done deal at that point as he had over a 30 point lead on the only player with innings remaining.
