DraftKings Announces 2015 FFWC: $5 Million Top Prize, Live Final On ESPN
Daily fantasy sports websites have embraced the traditional live final experience for quite some time, as qualifiers from online tournaments have won their way to an event normally held in Vegas or at the Playboy mansion where someone holds up a big check.
But what if there were two live finals? And what if the grand final was covered on ESPN? And what if the top prize was $5 million? That’s what DraftKings has done with their 2015 Fantasy Football World Championship, announced today, with qualifiers live now in the lobby.
The live final will happen in two parts, as contestants will play for a chance to compete at the first stage of the FFWC in Vegas, where 200 entrants will compete for prizes up to $100,000, with the top ten finishers earning a spot in a grand final to be featured on ESPN.
The ten who make it that far will then square off in another round of games, this time hosted in Los Angeles, and the player with the highest cumulative score will be crowned the winner, and earn $5 million. Second place walks away with $2 million, while third place will also become a millionaire. The full payout structures are below.
