DraftKings Announces $600,000 Fantasy Golf World Championship
DraftKings is bringing the live final experience to a new sport with their announcement of the $600,000 Fantasy Golf World Championship to be held in September during the Deutsche Bank Championship. This will be the first live final for the relatively new daily fantasy sport which has seen huge growth over a short period of time.
The live final will take place in Boston and will be centered around a unique experience at the event itself, held at the TPC Boston, right in DK’s backyard. The finalists will be competing for cash prizes up to $200,000, but will also get to take in the entire event from private club seats on the 18th hole, and from the “DraftKings Lounge” on the 17th hole. This five-night experience will be worth $7,000 on its own, with the potential for a huge payday on top.
Satellites will start as low as $0.25, with qualifiers offered at $33 and $1000. The 25-player field will receive a minimum payout of $5,000, with six-digit figures for the winner and runner-up.
Qualifiers begin during the Masters, which will also feature the PGA Millionaire Maker, meaning golf grinders on DK could score life-changing money and a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a PGA event while watching the most famous event on the Tour schedule. These events prove just how far golf has come as a daily fantasy offering over the past year, with live finals and bigger tournaments being announced ahead of the summer schedule.
The golf live final experience will be unlike any other sport, as the four-day schedule for the event will lead to a prolonged sweat, but plenty of opportunities to watch the best in the world take their turns around the course. Getting that experiene while hanging out in what sound like fantastic accommodations from the crew at DraftKings, who have put on some fantastic live final events in the past, is definitely worth a few shots in satellites and qualifiers over the summer.
