DraftKings Announces NBA/NHL Live Finals

With what most would consider the conclusion of the fantasy football season last weekend, everybody in the DFS world started clamoring for the next major announcement from the top two sites. DraftKings did more than just step up to the plate – they raised the stakes with the announcement of the Fantasy Basketball World Championship (FBWC), complete with a $1,000,000 prize for first place. What’s more, they also announced their first EVER Fantasy Hockey World Championship (FHWC).

These events will take place in Las Vegas on consecutive days surrounding the first round of the NCAA tournament. To tip the scales even further, DraftKings is flying all finalists out in time for the Big Dance to enjoy a viewing party and a VIP experience. This is the perfect combination for all sports fans, as you’ll get to compete for some MAJOR money as well as be in Las Vegas for one of the biggest weekends of the year.

Fantasy Basketball World Championship

The Basics

— $2 Million Prize Pool
— $1,000,000 first place prize

The Format

— Includes the eight NBA games that tip-off between 3-6pm EST on March 22nd
— Qualify today through March 16th

— The top 40 finalists of the FBWC Contest will receive a trip for two to the Aria Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV, which includes $1000 cash for airfare, and accommodations at the Aria for 5 nights (arrive in Las Vegas on March 18, 2015, depart on March 23, 2015)(approximate total value of $4,500.00)
— The FBWC Contest will take place on Sunday, March 22nd, 2015 and include the players and results of NBA games starting between 3:00PM EST – 6:00 PM EST. There will be no usage of DraftKings Late Swaps feature, lineups as of 3:00 PM EST will be final and no changes will be allowed.
— If one or more DraftKings Players tie for a finalist or winning spot in the FBWC Contest and such FBWC Contest is completed more than 15 days prior to the scheduled trip to the Aria, there will be a playoff contest between the tied DraftKings Players.
— If one or more DraftKings Players tie for a finalist or winning spot in the FBWC Contest and such FBWC Contest (or such playoff to break the tie as described in the paragraph above) is completed less than 15 days before the trip to the Aria, the winner will be the DraftKings Player with the higher single-player fantasy points result for each drafted player in the lineup.

Fantasy Hockey World Championship

The Basics

— The top 25 finalists of the FHWC Contest will receive a trip for two to the Aria Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV, which includes $1000 cash for airfare, and accommodations at the Aria for 5 nights (arrive in Las Vegas on March 18, 2015, depart on March 23, 2015)(approximate total value of $4,500.00)
— The FHWC Contest will take place on Saturday, March 21st, 2015 and include the players and results of NHL games starting between 7:00 PM EST and 8:00 PM EST. There will be no usage of DraftKings Late Swaps feature, lineups as of 7:00 PM EST will be final and no changes will be allowed.
— If one or more DraftKings Players tie for a finalist or winning spot in the FHWC Contest and such FHWC Contest is completed more than 15 days prior to the scheduled trip to the Aria, there will be a playoff contest between the tied DraftKings Players.
