Andy Means will be bringing Premium subscribers his top cash game plays and tournament pivots to build around. A former Duke basketball walk-on and now top-ranked DFS player, Andy will take an in-depth look into each of his core plays, and then blend it all together from a roster construction perspective. For those that read this article last year, welcome back. For those that are new, thanks for reading! Here is a quick review of what I am trying to accomplish with NBA Core Plays.

First and foremost, the Core Plays I reference below are for cash game formats (e.g. 50/50, H2H, double-ups). They are the players I think you absolutely must have in your cash game lineup(s) on that day’s main slate. There is a ton of great DFS information available nowadays. However, it can also be difficult to comb through all of that information and know whom exactly to put in your lineup. After reading a lot of articles and listening to a few podcasts, you suddenly are left thinking that there are 20 guys you should be putting into your cash game lineup (“Player X is an elite play!”; “Player Y is perfect for cash games!”; “Player Z is viable in all formats!”).

Meansy no pressure, but need you to be spot on tonite. After reaching my 3 years DFS bankroll high, I’ve been on an epic cash bender losing every way possible for about a week and half (Davis & Warren injuries), NO laying a complete egg with Davis out, and last night coup de gra being above the cash line by 8 pts and having McCollum goes scoreless and in 4th Q and getting pulled, Dragic not coming back in until 3 min left and not scoring a fantasy pt in the 4Q, and losing my cash games by 1 pt (LOL). Thankfully all my GPPs scored thank to Nurkic. Sorry, just need to vent….damn frustrating streak! I’ve been playing DFS for about 3.5 years now, and put my first dent in a door last nite!

So tough to decide between AD and LBJ, Im thinking finding a way to put them both in can be profitable. There are a bunch of potential cheap plays tonight : Brewer, J.Green. Noel. Toronto bench, Nitkilina, Kornet, Vonleh. All of these players have the potential to 6x salary tonight some even 7-8x it, do you think rolling with LBJ and AD can be profitable tonight?

Man, I have been right there with you for the last couple of weeks. I don’t know what happened with my mojo, but it has disappeared lately. It sounds easy enough when you hear people talk about riding out the down times, and staying confident that things will turn around, but it is much more difficult to actually do it without going crazy.

I’m going to try to fit them both. There’s some value out there. Brewer, Dorsey, Valentine, Cory Joseph, Bertans(Spurs are on a back to back so LMA or Gasol might sit), just to name a few more. Also Dorsey was just announced as starting per Basketball Monster. He’s gotta be a lock in cash and tourney’s I would think.

Saric now questionable with a case of the runs it sounds like… If he misses does Ilyasova take his place? Seems like they are very much the same player skill set wise, pace up game against the Pacers for 4100 seems like a solid value. Truth be told in this11 game slate there is so much value its lookin like stars and scrubs slate for sure

  • Sticks101

Do you think there is some merit to going mid level instead of paying up for a star tonight? Especially if Booker is out? Batum, Payton, Lowry, Wiggins, Lopez, Nance, Valcuinas all seem like a stacked mid range.

Booker is in, Lopez is gonna kill his price tag by the way

Yeah lopez will, i just was going through all the mid level (there’s a lot) and keep getting stuck trying to build in Lebron or AD, and cant help tonight but wonder why.

  • Ree4erMadness

Also, Gordon out, Aldridge in. Also don’t forget Jeff Green is starting tonight against the Suns. The Suns just made the Hornets look like the best team in the league.

That is a lot of risk on the low end…I don’t think I could do it as of now in cash games. Absolutely love it for tournaments though.

No issues at all with Booker if you can squeeze him in…Warren looks pretty good too at only $6,800.

Yeah I think Ersan would be a good play tonight if he draws the start.

I definitely think there is merit to it. You can certainly make a good cash game roster without one of the studs.

I don’t see any of them being cash viable tonight, but all three almost always make great tournament plays.
