PGA Millionaire Maker Recap: The Masters

It’s the first major golf championship of the year as The Masters concludes today, meaning there is a ton of money up for grabs at DraftKings in their $4M Fantasy Golf Millionaire, and many DFS players have their eyes on the big prizes at the top.

RotoGrinders will be here throughout the day providing updates of all the action, so make sure to tune in to find out who is moving up and who is sliding down!

DraftKings $4M Fantasy Golf Millionaire ($20 entry)

And it’s all over! Bidle takes home the $1,000,000 first-place prize with a great line up that included the top three golfers, Danny Willett, Lee Westwood, and Jordan Spieth as well as Paul Casey who tied for fourth. Westwood was a particularly good play coming in at only 2.7% ownership and you could argue that Spieth was criminally under owned at just 9.6%. Congrats to Bidle for the win! Here’s the top 10 as well as the winning lineup:

Final Standings

1. bidle 478.5, $1,000,000
2. SeesarPalachey 472.0, $250,000
3. PSBC22 471.0, $80,000
3. edavis44 471.0, $80,000
5. MaxH2468 470.5, $40,000
6. JSteward11 470.0, $30,000
7. TV784 469.5, $20,000
8. PSBC22 466.5, $20,000
9. Kunu88 464.5, $14,167

Barring some weirdness on 18, bidle is going to be joining Danny Willett as a big winner today. We’ll have the winning lineup and top 10 posted shortly after the final group finishes the 18th hole.

6:35 pm EST

Willett is in the clubhouse with a lead but it is a double bogey from Dustin Johnson and a birdie from Spieth that has caused major movement in our leader board. Bidle has taken the top spot with a lead of a little more than five points over SeesarPalechey who is in second. PSBC22 is in third and has three of the top 10 lineups. Spieth is in position for another birdie, so stay tuned…

6:20 pm EST

It’s coming down the stretch and any birdie will have significance, especially at the top of the standings where six players are within five points of each other. MaxH2468 continues to lead with PSBC22 in second place 2.5 points behind and bidle (with most holes remaining) in third place 3 points behind.

MastersMillyMaker13

6:03 pm EST

A Westwood bogey and Dustin Johnson birdie has moved MaxH2468 into the lead by 1 point over rebonkulous and 1.5 points over dandydon. A Spieth birdie could make things interesting, especially if he can make a run on the par 5’s.

5:52 pm EST

A Jordan Spieth quadruple bogey and Lee Westwood eagle has changed everything in a matter of minutes and it’s one of the best in all of DFS, dandydon, who has moved into the lead with his Danny Willett-Lee Westwood-Dustin Johnson led lineup – that’s the top three golfers in the tournament currently for those of you keeping score at home. Still plenty of golf left though and the leader board is bunched up.

5:37 pm EST

Mahoneyx4 doesn’t have any of the three players who made hole in ones so it might be a little surprising that he is now in the lead. What he does have is Jordan Spieth along with the three golfers tied for third. Big days for J.B. Holmes, Justin Rose, and Lee Westwood have given Mahoneyx4 the lead and he has a little cushion as he is 6.5 points up on current second place player nnedvesky.

Luck be a lady… or the 16th hole at Augusta on April 10th, 2016. Hole in ones are likely going to decide the outcome of this tournament as Louis Oosthuizen just made an improbable ace that ricocheted off J.B. Holmes ball and found its way into the hole. That’s great news for tmooney3603 who was already riding high after a Davis Love ace on 16 and with the aforementioned hole in one by Oosthuizen has taken the lead. The ace caused a complete shake up of the top 10 as you’ll see below…

5:02 pm EST

The final group is about to conclude the front 9 and while Spieth might be pulling away from the field after four consecutive birdies, it is far from settled in this event as there are still 23 players within 10 points of the lead. Jakevlivingstone and biglosingbear have reclaimed the lead with UrAboutToRage now in third. The group of seven is in 4th-10th.

MastersMillyMaker9

4:41 pm EST

There are still issues at DraftKings but that hasn’t stopped wilco999 from making a move as he now is in second place just 1/2 a point behind UrAboutToRage. His lineup consists of Spieth-Willett-D.Johnson-Kaufman-Aphibarnrat-S.Lowry. We’ll get some screen shots up hopefully soon.

4:31 pm EST

DraftKings is having some issues with their site currently but last check UrAboutToRage has reclaimed the lead with the seven-way group sitting in second.

4:17 pm EST

Jordan Spieth continues to hang tough. After a bogey, he answered with a birdie on six. It is however a three under round from Paul Casey that is making a difference as he has propelled jakevlivingstone and biglosingbear into a two-way tie for the lead with UrAboutToRage now in third and the seven-way group in fourth.

MastersMillyMaker8

4:07 pm EST

There is currently a seven-way tie for third place – if somehow that group would make it to the top it’d be bittersweet as they wouldn’t win the million bucks but would instead have to settle for a little more than $200k apiece. I think they’ll be fine with that… Here’s a look at the lineup these seven are sharing…

MastersMillyMaker7

3:52 pm EST

Despite a double bogey from Dustin Johnson on five, a birdie by him on six was enough to move UrAboutToRage into the lead. He too was the beneficiary of a huge hole in one bonus, but his came courtesy of Shane Lowry (just 1.2% owned). Here’s the current top 10 and the leading lineup:

MastersMillyMaker6

3:32 pm EST

A hole-in-one by Davis Love has caused a major shift in the standings as that huge bonus has catapulted nickq4780 into the lead and moved h.spegal into second place. Chrislach moved down to third place. Here’s a look at the current top 10 with nickq’s lineup:

MastersMillyMaker5

3:24 pm EST

A Bernhard Langer double bogey has shifted the top 10 a bit. Chrislach continues to lead but it’s a precarious one as there are now 67 players within 10 points of the lead including a group of 15 tied for sixth place.

3:18 pm EST

Spieth and Kaufman both birdie the second hole but the majority of the leader board has those two so it did little to change things. Chrislach continues to lead by three points over PeytonDatManHisMoney and Smashtron3000.

2:55 pm EST

Bogies by Matsuyama and Langer on the first hole is not what a bunch of people at the top of the leader board were hoping to see. Chrislach still holds the lead by the slimmest of margins over start of day leader tigerwb81.

MastersMillyMaker4

2:25 pm EST

A hot streak from Henrik Stenson has moved chrislach into the lead – he still has the top four (Kaufman, Langer, Matsuyama, and Spieth) left to go along with Bill Haas who is through seven holes.

MastersMillyMaker3

2:15 pm EST

A look at the current standings show that there are nearly 200 people within 25 points of the lead (and many more hovering near that mark). A hot streak from a golfer could easily move people up the standings in quick order. Among those sitting in the top 200 are RG’s own GrindersCal, DraftCheat (two lineups), SamENole (two lineups), and TonyCincotta. Mphst18 has an astonishing five lineups in the top 200 and leafs93 isn’t too far back with three in the top 200.

2:05 pm EST

Here is a look at the current top 10, tigerwb1 continues to lead but it’s anyone’s game as the clubhouse leaders have yet to tee off.

8:00 am EST

Heading into play today here were the top 10 with the leader tigerwb1’s roster of six golfers.
