FanDuel 2015 Playboy Baseball Championship Announced
FanDuel has released the details on one of their live final events for the upcoming MLB season, as they announced the 2015 Playboy Baseball Championship, which will be held June 6th, 2015 at the Playboy Mansion.
The final will feature a 70-player field with $750,000 in prizes to be won, including a $100,000 prize to first place. All qualifiers will be rewarded with airfare and hotel accommodations, along with an experience at a lifetime at The Mansion, and a minimum prize payout of $5,000. In order to qualify, users will have to win a seat, and that is accomplished by taking down a qualifier tournament.
Those satellite tournaments to grab a seat at Hef’s House begin on April 6th with a $25 qualifier. There will be other levels of qualifiers, as DillingerFour told our community on the forums, and we can presume these will be at similar levels to other FanDuel qualifiers (as low as $2 and as high as $535).
This will be one of at least two live finals for FanDuel this season, as the World Fantasy Baseball Championship is sure to return, as FanDuel already has a page up with dates (August 20th-23rd) for the event, but no other details have been released as of this time.
But with Opening Day right around the corner, it was about time that the industry started sharing more details about the big events that will highlight a summer filled with baseball. And with all the growth we’ve seen in the industry, it will be interesting to see just how big the events and prize pools can get. The payout structure is relatively balanced for the PBC, with the top 15 finishers all seeing a five-digit payday. But there will only be one Playboy Baseball Champion in 2015, and that title will come with a $100,000 check and bragging rights for the rest of time.
This will be the first baseball iteration of the PBC for FanDuel, who took over the Playboy Championship series from StarStreet. Last year’s event was won by motts81, with familiar names like RadThad954, TommyG1979 and naapstermaan also showing up on the final scoreboard.
It will be the third Playboy live final event for FD, however, with last year’s NFL final and this year’s NBA championship (which featured the first female live final winner) already in the books. As always, the folks at FD will undoubtedly put on a great event, so start thinking about how you’ll take down a seat and join the crew headed to California for a shot at DFS MLB glory, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Playboy Mansion.
