This offer is separate from any other promotions offered by FanDuel, so you will qualify for those offers as well! You don’t need to be a resident of Kansas to sign up for an account, but you do need to be 21 or older, which is why FanDuel needs a few personal details. Don’t worry, though; FanDuel and other regulated sportsbooks have very tight security and keep all customer information as safe and confidential as possible.
While you can sign up for a FanDuel account right now, unfortunately you will have to wait a little while before actually placing a wager. The Kansas legislature passed a law to authorize sports betting, but state regulators are still working on the details, so bettors won’t be able to wager on preseason NFL football, but the regular season is certainly possible.
FanDuel Partnership in Kansas
Kansas has four casinos, each of which can partner with three online sportsbooks, which means we expect at least 12 sportsbooks to be available when sports betting launches in Kansas. FanDuel will be one of the 12 due to its partnership with Boyd Gaming, a large gaming company that owns casinos across the country. Boyd Gaming owns the Kansas Star Casino, and the company has already announced that FanDuel will be one of the casino’s online partners. This is not surprising because FanDuel is the top sportsbook in the country and has partnered with Boyd Gaming in several other states, including Louisiana, Iowa, and Indiana.
There are a few FanDuel-branded retail sportsbooks in states where the company operates, but FanDuel is primarily online-only. No word yet on whether the Kansas Star Casino will include a FanDuel-branded sportsbook.
More on Sports Betting in Kansas
As mentioned, the four casinos in the state qualify for sports betting licenses. Kansas Speedway and Sporting KC, the two sports teams/facilities in the state, also qualify for one mobile betting license. Additionally, sports betting kiosks will eventually be available at bars and restaurants across the state. The tax rate on sports betting will be 10%, which is on the low end and should encourage competition in the state.
There are no restrictions on college betting, which is good news for the many Kansas Jayhawk fans who are no doubt eager to wager on their beloved basketball team to win another national championship.
Where can you bet on sports in KS right now?
Kansas is right in the middle of the country. It borders four states, only one of which, Colorado, currently has mobile betting available. Until mobile betting launches in Kansas, bettors in the state will have to head to Colorado, Iowa, or Arkansas to wager on their phones. Illinois is also a possibility, but that’s a pretty long drive from the Kansas City area.
While bettors in Kansas may have to wait a few more months to wager on sports, their patience will be rewarded with a $100 credit from FanDuel, just for signing up for an account now. What a deal!
For now, Kansas residents (and visitors) can get in on the action by picking player props at various DFS sites. Check out our PrizePicks promo code to claim a $100 bonus and begin picking props today!
