Find Your Edge: Week 17

Director of Data and Analytics, Kevin Cole, returns with a look at how past DFS slates can yield valuable insights to roster construction, decision making, and winning strategies for the coming slate of games. This is a big deal. We’ve collected a massive amount of data on past DFS slates, and Kevin is going to help you “find the edge” buried deep within them.

Week 17

This week we’re taking a quick look at past results for Week 17’s to see if the team and game stacking numbers differ significantly from what we see the rest of the season.

Week 17 slates feature the most games of any in the season, all 15 games other than the Sunday Night Football matchup. There could be unique benefits to stacking these slates, or at least we can confirm similar characteristics to the rest of the season.

Earlier this year, we looked at the entire data set of millions of entries through the last few seasons. The stacking info showed good leverage with QB/WR, QB/WR/WR and QB/WR/TE stacks.

This analysis has a huge caveat of small sample issues. At the very least seeing what stacks have been employed, but not necessarily reading too much into the winner numbers for only two weeks in the sample.
