2024 Genesis Invitational Weather Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the Genesis Invitational in Santa Monica, California, and as a nice change of pace, the weather looks to cooperate nicely for most of the tournament.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

Genesis Invitational Weather Forecast

Thursday, February 15th

Dry, calm morning winds of 0-5 mph will build to around 5-10 mph sustained by the afternoon.

Friday, February 16th

Back-to-back nice days, I expect similar weather with calm morning conditions and light afternoon winds.

Saturday, February 17th

One more near-perfect day. Calm morning winds, light afternoon winds, and no rain.

Sunday, February 18th

It is still a nice day for golf, especially wind-wise, but there is a chance of some late afternoon showers.

Genesis Invitational Weather Thoughts

All in all, I don’t think the weather is going to be much of an issue. Generally speaking, the mornings will be slightly easier on golfers than the afternoons, but it’s not a pronounced difference, and there’s no one time frame that really sticks out as a problem at any point in the tournament.
