Tuesday’s NBA action will begin with a matchup between the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Entering play, Miami (28-23) has won seven of their last 10 games to climb up to the sixth-spot in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland (31-21) is one game ahead of Miami in the standings. Tonight, oddsmakers are expecting a competitive game between these two teams, pricing Cleveland as 4.5-point home favorites on the spread.

Miami Heat

Vincent listed as questionable

As of this writing, Gabe Vincent is listed as questionable for Tuesday’s action, but is expected to play, per Ira Winderman. In 37 games played this year, Vincent is averaging 9.5 points in 24.9 points minutes of action as a key contributor off of the bench.

Vincent has been an important piece for head coach Erik Spoelstra off of the bench in a unit that has struggled to put the ball in the basket this season. Even during Miami’s recent 10-game hot streak, they rank 22nd in bench points per game.

Dangerous when healthy

Per Cleaning the Glass, Miami’s starting lineup of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Caleb Martin, and Kyle Lowry ranks in the 99th percentile in defensive efficiency this year, allowing only 104.4 points per 100 possessions. Expect this group to be ready to compete right from the opening tip-off against Cleveland.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Defend The Land

The Cavaliers have been one of the NBA’s best home teams this season, with a 21-5 record at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. In those 26 games, they have outscored their opponents by 8.5 points per 100 possessions, which ranks fourth-best in the league.

Playing at home, Cleveland’s defense has been tenacious, allowing the third-fewest three-point attempts and the fourth-fewest free-throw attempts per game. As a result of forcing their opponents to settle for shots inside the arc and allowing a minimal number of opportunities at the charity stripe, the Cavaliers are allowing only 107.8 points per 100 possessions in their home building – the third-best defensive efficiency in the NBA.

Mitchell off of the injury report

After playing 20 minutes and scoring 11 points in Cleveland’s win on Sunday over Los Angeles, Donovan Mitchell has no injury designation ahead of tonight’s action. In his return, he shot an efficient 55.6% from the field and dished out three assists on a night in which he was able to sit the majority of the second half due to a sizable lead.

Per Cleaning the Glass, the Cavaliers rank in the 64th percentile in offensive efficiency and the 87th percentile in defensive efficiency when he is on the court this year, compared to the 54th percentile in offensive efficiency and the 76th percentile in defensive efficiency when he is on the sidelines. His presence is a major boon for this team, especially on the offensive end of the floor.

Heat vs. Cavaliers – Picks & Predictions

Despite Mitchell being healthy and without a minutes restriction on Tuesday, this is still a disrespectful line for the Heat. In Miami’s last 10 games, they are 7-3, with notable wins over the Celtics, Pelicans (twice), and Bucks (twice). Cleveland is one of the league’s best teams at home, but it will be difficult for them to cover multiple possessions on a spread in a contest that could come down to the final shot. Take the Heat and the points in this spot.

PICK: Heat +4.5 (-110, FanDuel)
