2024 Houston Open Weather Forecast and Projections
We’re teeing off for the Houston Open this week in my current residence of Houston, Texas… and I’m thrilled to say that this is one of the few weeks in Houston with good weather! That being said, there’s still an edge to be had for sports betting and DFS.
As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.
Houston Open Weather Forecast
Thursday, March 28th
Best day of the tournament. Sunny skies, comfortable temps, and light winds (5 mph) all day long.
Friday, March 29th
Friday we switch to a weather pattern that will stick around for the rest of the tournament… lighter AM winds around 10 mph, stronger afternoon winds around 15-2 0mph with gusts 2 5mph or stronger.
Saturday, March 30th
Like Friday, winds will start manageable and become increasingly problematic through the day, peaking at 15-20 mph sustained with stronger gusts.
Sunday, March 31st
Easter Sunday features another “lighter winds in the morning, stronger in the afternoon” day. I expect very similar weather to Friday and Saturday.
Houston Open Weather Thoughts
The proper build seems easy enough here… going with a Thursday PM / Friday AM build will give you the better of the weather on Friday without any downside on Thursday.
