Hey, Grinders! Here I will break down my top team and player picks for DFeS LoL GPPs and cash game contests on DraftKings for the October 2nd slate.

Top

KOO Smeb: $6,700 (vs. FW Steak)

Smeb will be up against an FW Steak he simply outclasses in this matchup. Steak’s struggles with his ability to play the champions of the changing metagame throughout the season will be taken advantage of by the much more experienced and comfortable Smeb and KOO Jungler Hojin. Expect Smeb to be the consistent playmaker he has been all season, and consider him a lock for both cash games and GPPs.

CLG ZionSpartan: $6,300 (vs. paiN Mylon)

ZionSpartan will be up against the less experienced Mylon in a matchup CLG is a heavy favorite in. Expect Mylon to struggle under ZionSpartan’s early game aggression, and expect ZionSpartan to do the playmaking he is known for throughout this game. Look to handcuff to CLG Xmithie in your cash game lineups.

Jungle

CLG Xmithie: $6,700 (vs. paiN SirT)

Xmithie will be looking to make plenty of plays and earn ZionSpartan and Pobelter some early kills in this favorable matchup against paiN. SirT does play his favorite champions well, and they are strong in the meta, but Xmithie will have the tactical advantages and ganking opportunities offered by the early aggressive play of ZionSpartan and Pobelter. This will get Xmithie several assists throughout the game, with upside for more assists and some kills if paiN manages to stay competitive.

KT Score: $6,100 (vs. TSM Santorin)

TSM has been struggling to find their teamwork and synergy in games all season. The biggest reason for this is the frequent mistakes and poor champion choices of TSM Dyrus and TSM Santorin. Ssumday will have a favorable matchup against Dyrus, while KT Nagne will have a tough time against TSM Bjergersen in mid. Expect plenty of opportunities for Score to score while he roams the map and look to handcuff to Ssumday or Piccaboo who will be roaming alongside him looking to pick up kills against the weak team chemistry TSM has shown throughout the season.

Mid

LGD GODV: $8,100 (vs. OG xPeke)

LGD is a heavy favorite at every position against OG. LGD has strong team synergy and every player is skilled enough to win their lane matchup all on their own, without any assistance from LGD’s jungler TBQ. LGD’s goto strategy is to make every kill count against the opposing team, pushing every advantage gained by swiftly establishing lane pressure in other lanes, and forcing multiple objectives to keep the enemy team divided and pinned down. xPeke is a good all around player, but GODV has been on a tear throughout the season and this game looks to be no different. LGD’s methodical suppression of their enemy will create an environment they control, and they will be looking to gain consistently before taking objectives as a team. Because each player is a force to be reckoned with all their own in this matchup, there is some added value to handcuffing TBQ at any position (if you can afford him). GODV is a bit pricey, but his matchup makes him a good option for cash games and even GPPs with LGD’s strategy of oppression through consistently racking up kills and forcing the enemy team to take fights while down players before going for objectives.

KOO KurO: $7,600 (vs. FW Maple)

Maple is the biggest threat to KOO’s expected victory in this game. Maple prefers to play assassin champions to shut down the enemy in the early game, giving his team an advantage they can push. This is the strategy that will most likely be employed by the Flash Wolves in this game: run offense through Maple and hope Smeb does not get too far ahead of Steak and start roaming. If Smeb does get ahead, he will be trying his best to shut down Maple first, and this gives some added value to KurO as a GPP pick. KurO is more than capable of handling himself in this matchup, but it is always a little worrisome to take a player going against the other team’s best, and especially if that team’s best happens to favor champions that are deadly in the early game. KurO has proved consistent with his champion pool throughout the season though, and this matchup should not be the one to shake him too much. Take this pick in GPP games as it relies on Smeb and Hojin to do their part, but remember that if KurO is able to handle Maple on his own he will be a great deal of KOO’s strength once he begins to roam in the early game as well as teamfights. Take him in your GPP games as a high upside pick not many people will be on (I expect most will be on GODV and Pobelter) and try to pair him with Smeb if you can afford to fit the two together.

Other Mids to consider: Pobelter, Pawn, Bjergersen (risky play but good value)

ADC & Support

CLG Doublelift: $9,000
CLG Aphromoo: $4,900
(vs. paiN brTT & paiN Dioud)

Doublelift is a bit pricey on this slate but has an incredibly soft matchup against the inexperienced brTT and Dioud on paiN. In this matchup we could expect to see some early game aggression coming out of the relatively passive CLG bot lane, who will be looking to open up more opportunities for early dragons against paiN, especially if they manage to get Doublelift on Vayne or Jinx. Expect Doublelift and Aphromoo to be a big part of the action in the early game as well as the late game in this matchup, with upside for them to pay off Doublelift’s salary by the end of the game.

LGD imp: $8,200
LGD Pyl: $5,700
(vs. OG Niels & OG Mithy)

I talked above about LGD’s oppressive global pressure strategy, how they have an extremely favorable matchup in all lanes, and how they are expected to methodically pick up a lot of kills throughout the game. There isn’t much more to be said about imp and Pyl. Imp has one of the most expansive champion pools of any other ADC this season, and Pyl has shown mastery of several support champions in his pool, averaging 20+ assists per game when playing his best. Two great options for both cash games and GPPs.

Teams to target

C. Logic Gaming: $4,600 (vs. paiN Gaming)

KOO Tigers: $4,400 (vs. Flash Wolves)

LGD Gaming: $4,300 (vs. Origen Gaming)
