Mexico Open Weather Report and Forecast

PGA golfer Akshay Bhatia

The weather in Puerto Vallarta for the Mexico Open couldn’t be any better for golf.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

Mexico Open Weather Forecast

Thursday, February 20th

Starting things off in style, calm winds in the morning will top out between 5-10 mph in the afternoon. As we’ll see all tournament, the winds are light, there’s no rain, and temps are hot (90 degrees by the afternoon).

Friday, February 21st

Another day with essentially no wind in the morning and light (5-10 mph) winds in the afternoon.

Saturday, February 22nd

We’re running back the same forecast. Minimal morning wind with light winds in the afternoon at 5-10 mph. No precipitation.

Sunday, February 23rd

Closing it out with great weather again—no wind issues, peaking in the afternoon between just 5-10 mph, and no precipitation.

Mexico Open Weather Thoughts

There’s a reason people vacation in Mexico in the winter… the weather is perfect. Winds stay light, the course stays dry, and temps climb to near 90 degrees each day. I don’t see any betting or DFS edge to be had (at least not from weather).
