THURSDAY NIGHT MAIN SLATE
We’ve got just four games on the Main Slate tonight, and it starts an hour later than usual at 8:05 ET. The pitching is uninspiring, but there are a few useable options, and all pricing tiers are covered. With rain in Chicago, there’s a chance this could end up as a three game slate, so keep an eye on the weather, and I’ll update this afternoon.
TWO ‘GOOD’ LEFTIES
Sean Manaea at Seattle – It’s been all sunshine and roses for Manaea this season with a 1.03 ERA behind elite control at a 4.5% walk rate and a recent strikeout surge with 17 strikeouts in his last two starts. Of course there has been a lot of good fortune involved with a .148 BABIP and 9.3% HR/FB rate. As much as I’m a fan of his skills, his hard hit rate is extreme against right-handed batters at 43%, and gives me a lot of pause when looking at that next to his low BABIP. It just can’t go on forever. The question is, which wins out tonight, his last two starts of big strikeout numbers or the regression monster heading for his BABIP.
