Pitcher Grind Down
- Jarrod Parker – If you take away his 6 starts in April, Parker would have a 2.81 ERA on the season. Very impressive numbers since that bad start. I really like the matchup against the Twins who no longer have Mauer or Morneau in their lineup. Not sure how many other people will be on Parker tonight, but I am high on him. Starter Rating = 8
- Liam Hendriks – Hendriks has a 5.28 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP on the season. And he is facing an A’s team that has been starting pitcher’s worst nightmare. Starter Rating = 1
Batter Grind Down
OAK – The A’s have been swinging hot bats over the last few weeks. I really like their matchup against the right handed Hendriks. Crisp, Donaldson, Lowrie, and Moss are all in play.
MIN – There is certainly some value in the Twins lineup, but sometimes value is overrated, especially when those players are facing a tough pitcher like Parker.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Wily Peralta – Peralta has faced the Cardinals twice this season and hasn’t looked good in either of those starts. He has an ERA over 11 in those games and only managed to last 9 combined innings. Not a good play tonight. Starter Rating = 2
- Shelby Miller – Miller is always in play at home where he has a 1.92 ERA. He also has had great success against the Brewers this season with a 1.47 ERA and 21 K’s over 18 innings pitched. The numbers all look favorable for Miller. Starter Rating = 7
Batter Grind Down
MIL – Miller is good at home and they have struggled against him. I don’t think that changes tonight.
STL – The Cardinals have such a good offense that it can sometimes be hard to decide which players to take. I like Matt Carpenter thanks to his lefty/righty matchup, but I also really like the Yadier Molina play at catcher. He’s one of the few catchers that you can count on to have positive fantasy points.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jordan Lyles – Lyles has pitched better in his last few starts, but that’s not saying much when you look at his starts from earlier in the year. The Mariners are a very good offensive team against right hand pitchers and I don’t see Lyles being able to do much tonight. Starter Rating = 3
- Joe Saunders – Here is your ultimate risk/reward play of the night. Saunders is dirt cheap across the board and has a great matchup against the Astros in the pitcher friendly Safeco Field. On multiple pitcher sites, I think he is in play all around, on single pitcher sites, he’s a GPP play. Starter Rating = 6
Batter Grind Down
HOU – Just like Saunders being a wildcard play tonight, so are the Astros bats. This way could easily go either way and the Astros do have some bats that hit lefties well.
SEA – Let me name a few left handed bats from the Mariners that are in a good spot: Seager, Ibanez, Miller, Morales, Almonte, etc. etc. Looks like a great spot for the M’s.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Trevor Cahill – Cahill hasn’t really been on my list of pitcher plays at any point this season and a matchup against the Dodgers doesn’t help his cause at all. Much better chance of him getting shelled than having a good game. Starter Rating = 3
- Edinson Volquez – Volquez is now a member of the Dodgers and we will see if a change in scenery can help. It certainly can’t hurt. Volquez hasn’t been very good at all this season so it will be interesting to see how his first start for the Dodgers goes. Starter Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
ARI – I think the D-Backs are in a good spot against Volquez. I love the way Martin Prado is playing and I think a guy like Adam Eaton is in play. He has been an on-base machine against right hand pitching.
LAD – I think we know what we can expect from Cahill at this point. I’m not very high on him and I think he is really going to have trouble with the Dodgers. Crawford and Gonzalez both have the lefty/righty matchups in their favor.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jorge De La Rosa – I’m guessing that most Grinders are the same way as I am with De La Rosa. They just always try to find a better option because this is De La Rosa. He has a 3.31 ERA on the season and a pretty decent K rate yet no one ever seems to take him. Once again, there are pitchers that I would rather have though. Starter Rating = 5
- Ryan Vogelsong – Tonight is a full schedule of games so you usually don’t have to take too many chances on pitching. There are a lot of pitchers going tonight with better matchups. Starter Rating = 5
Batter Grind Down
COL – The Rockies are definitely a much different offensive team on the road. You can never rule out guys like Michael Cuddyer and Troy Tulowitzi, but there usually aren’t a ton of runs at AT&T Park.
SF – Whenever the Giants face a lefty, Buster Posey should come to mind. De La Rosa has been solid though so I wouldn’t venture too far into the rest of the Giants hitters.
