The temperature is expected to be 85 degrees at Wrigley Field with a 25-MPH wind blowing out to left field, and wind tends to make an impact at Wrigley more than at any other park in the majors. It’s a small sample size, but WeatherEdge indicates a 172.7% boost to home runs in the 3 games that have had similar weather conditions. You could say the sample size is too small to read anything into it, but I lean towards the fact that there are only 3 games in the system with weather conditions like this, and we’ve seen some high-scoring affairs in Wrigley wind games.
I’ll lean towards Atlanta as the top offense on the slate, getting the guaranteed 9th-inning plate appearances as the road team and facing Javier Assad. Atlanta has the 6th-highest wOBA and 7th-highest SLG% in all weather conditions this season. Matt Olson is my favorite bat, as he’ll have the platoon advantage against Assad.
