Happy Saturday, Grinders! We have the usual split slate Saturday on tap for today, with eight early games and five night games on the DFS slates for us. The early slate locks at 4 PM ET and will be the “main” slate for today.
This should be an interesting day of baseball, so let’s get to it with some of my favorite MLB DFS picks for this Saturday! Have a great weekend everyone!
Saturday Afternoon Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

Top Tier Arms
Cristian Javier vs. Angels
And…. that’s about it.
We have a distinct lack of top tier pitching on this slate, and it’s going to be a challenging one to navigate. You won’t get a whole lot of argument against Javier being the most talented pitcher throwing this afternoon. He has a solid overall profile with a 2.97 ERA, a 26.8% strikeout rate, and a 6.4% walk rate on the year. However, he has benefited from a .242 opposing BABIP, and he does have a 4.22 xFIP. That said, his career BABIP allowed is .227, and he is just going to lean toward lower BABIP numbers as a fly ball pitcher.
I am not going to talk you out of playing Javier if you desire. He’s a very safe choice, and the only real risk is if he happens to allow multiple home runs. The Angels are hit or miss when it comes to power. I simply prefer to save a little more salary with my pitching choices today, as that extra freedom to spend up for a few top-end bats makes your lineups look a lot better. The risk comes if Javier happens to have a ceiling game — and he did strike out 11 Angels just three weeks ago. I’m still willing to take my chances and go cheaper here, but Javier is clearly going to project the best from a gross fantasy points basis.
