Covering The Bases: MLB DFS Picks Today for Tuesday 8/26
Long-time grinder, Justin Van Zuiden (aka stlcardinals84), is here to cover the bases for the upcoming MLB DFS slate on DraftKings and FanDuel. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cards has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his favorite MLB DFS picks.
Happy Tuesday, everyone! I am covering for Cheese today to give him a bit of a breather after he covered for me on short notice a few weekends ago. This Tuesday night brings us a healthy 12-game slate, and there are some big prize pools out there for DFS. This would be a nice night to build some winning lineups!
With a large slate, it will be important to monitor things with our MLB weather page, and we will also have you covered with MLB starting lineups as things start to heat up before lock. As far as the weather goes, I will write the article as though every game plays fine, as nothing looks too bad as of the early-morning hours.
This is a big slate, so there is no time to waste. Let’s dig in and see what this Tuesday night has to offer!

TOP TIER ACES
Hunter Brown vs. Rockies
Jacob Misiorowski vs. Diamondbacks
Dylan Cease vs. Mariners
Jesus Luzardo vs. Mets
This slate brings us an interesting group of top-tier arms, highlighted by Hunter Brown winning the “good pitcher facing the Rockies away from Coors Field” award for the day. I’m sure that he will be excited to get to the ballpark this evening. As usual, we’ll begin with a look at the 2025 data for these pitchers:
Brown – 2.36 ERA, 3.09 xFIP, 29.3% K, 7.9% BB
Misiorowski – 4.19 ERA, 3.12 xFIP, 35.3% K, 12.8% BB
Cease – 4.71 ERA, 3.51 xFIP, 30.1% K, 9.8% BB
Luzardo – 4.10 ERA, 3.27 xFIP, 27.9% K, 7.9% BB
The first pair of decisions in this tier is straightforward. To start things off, Hunter Brown is one of the more obvious SP1 options that we have had on a large slate in quite some time. He has given up 2 runs or less in each of his last 5 starts. His numbers are consistently strong across the board, and he gets to face the woeful Rockies away from Coors Field. The Rockies scored 1 total run in a 3-game series at PNC Park against the Pirates over the weekend. Sure, one of those games was against Paul Skenes, but this is a team that is on pace to be the worst team in the modern era and ranks last in baseball in wOBA in road games. They also have struck out at a whopping 27% clip on the road.
If you are playing cash games, Brown is the clear SP1. There is no questioning it given the matchup and the fact that Houston is an absolutely massive favorite in this game. Even in tournament builds, I want to make sure I am overweight compared to the field. Even if he is 50% owned, let the other 50% of people make that mistake. Don’t overthink the obvious.
The second straightforward decision is that you simply can’t play Jacob Misiorowski right now at these price tags.
