What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: I prefer larger-field MME tonight because I want to play the two chalky spend-up pitchers, and ownership on those top plays is always higher in smaller-field tournaments. It’ll be easier to get over the field on Logan Gilbert and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in MME, and there are more than enough offenses that I want even exposure to. With a focus on salary relief, the teams I’ll be highest on are the Twins, Rangers, and Reds (without Elly De La Cruz and Matt McLain).
stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on 3-entry-max and 20-entry-max contests. We have 10-12 potential pitching options that are playable in tournaments. When it’s this widespread, I like to narrow it down to 4-6 in small-field tournaments. There are 6-10 offenses that have the upside to score 8+ runs. With this many pitching and hitting options, I’m not worried about ownership. I’m going to build around the Yankees, Athletics, Reds, and Mariners.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – There are many ways to get creative on tonight’s slate, but my primary focus will be to pay up for pitching as much as possible. Logan Gilbert is my top priority, and I will try to pair him with an SP2 with strikeout upside, like Michael King or Yoshinobu Yamamoto. This won’t be difficult to build with cheap stacks like Texas or Minnesota, but for the higher-priced stacks, I will likely sacrifice a bat or two in order to make it work.
Dean78904: I don’t make a lot of lineups, as I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field contests. My pitching pool will be small, as I just might lock in Logan Gilbert. If I can double down with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, that would be ideal, but salary might become an issue. I love Elly De La Cruz, but if it comes down to Yamamoto vs. EDLC, I’ll pretty much always default to the pitcher. I’m not here to besmirch De La Cruz, but he has historically been much weaker vs. LHPs (of course, those lefties have not been Kyle Freeland, so this is a butt-clinching fade for sure). On a big slate with a lot of appealing spots (Mariners, Athletics, Yankees, Twins, Reds), you have to think one gets there and cracks double digits, so you’re probably supposed to unleash full stacks. That said, I mostly dabble in small-field stuff, so I think I can get away with 3-3-2 / 4-2-2 type lineups using the above teams.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
