MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, July 8

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

SquirrelPatrol: Corey Seager
Alex Sonty: Elly De La Cruz
ebeimfohr: Corey Seager
eys819: Elly De La Cruz

Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

SquirrelPatrol: Byron Buxton – Buxton has been warming up throughout the season, with a .296 wOBA in April, .325 wOBA in May, .373 wOBA in June, and now a .547 wOBA through his first 5 games in July. He remains underpriced on both sites and is facing a pitcher, Chris Flexen, who has a 5.08 ERA and just a 17.2% K% on the season.

Alex Sonty: Jose RamirezKeider Montero at punt pricing could gain steam despite the other savings we have for SP2, which should cap the ownership on Ramirez, who has a .238 ISO on the season against RHP. He isn’t as dominant this season as he has been, but there is some bad luck involved. His hard-hit rate against RHP is up to 61.8% in 2024 from 54.5% in 2023, while his fly balls are at 35.2% (28.8% last season). Montero’s given up 4 HRs in 15 IP in the majors this season after giving up 16 through 127.1 IP in the minors in 2023. Montero is in a polarizing spot. We should have some shares of him, but where we don’t, we should have a lot of Ramirez.

ebeimfohr: Colt Keith – Keith has been a nice source of value at a weak 2B position, but he’s particularly come on strong of late, which makes sense for a rookie in his first big league season. Three of his 7 home runs have come in July, with a triple and stolen base mixed in there as well. Gavin Williams may be a talented prospect, but it’s just his 2nd start back from a long absence, and he was terrible in his rehab assignment and then got roughed up on Wednesday. The Guardians’ bullpen is also very taxed, with their best two arms almost assuredly unavailable tonight.

eys819: Elly De La Cruz – He is expensive and will be mega-chalk, but the upside could be slate-breaking. He gets a matchup against a low-strikeout righty with power prevention problems against lefties. De La Cruz owns a .252 ISO and 15% barrel rate against righties, and his strikeout risk will be minimized. If the power potential isn’t enough, De La Cruz leads MLB with 43 stolen bases or 14 more than any other player.
