Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I am only going to make one or two lineups on each site, but realistically, if you were playing this like a normal slate, I’d say there might be a bigger edge in MME. Because there are so few reasonable pitching options and barely any salary-cap concerns, there will be a whole bunch of ways to get completely off the radar by leaving salary on the table. If you pass on James Wood / CJ Abrams and play a bottom-of-the-order stack from any team on the slate, you’re going to be different, and it just doesn’t take all that much for randomness to win on a 3-game slate. The Orioles and Twins are my favorite teams to do that with, as they have power throughout their lineups. In single-entry tournaments, I can’t make any real case to get cute at pitching, whereas in MME, I’d be sure to get a few stacks of the Giants against the chalky Zebby Matthews, just in case.

headChopper: I am just making one lineup and playing it in small-field tournaments. I will be on the Minnesota stack, and that certainly won’t separate me from the field, so I will have to do that with the other roster spots. I might get different at one of the pitching spots, maybe taking a chance on a new call-up or a guy coming off the IL. I’m not sure yet, but that would help differentiate my lineup. Also, after my Minnesota hitters, I might just go hunting for home runs across different teams and use all one-offs.

ebeimfohr: A micro slate with no truly strong pitching makes for a big-time contrarian slate for me. I like to focus on smaller fields and use our ownership projections (and our MLB DFS sims) to pinpoint the highest-leverage bats, oftentimes stacking against a chalky pitcher, like the Blue Jays against Shane Baz tonight. I don’t plan to go completely off the reservation with every roster spot, as I will certainly still be locking in Zebby Matthews given the pitching options and his matchup. I’m more focused on the other offenses with lower projected ownership, but if you wanted to flip that strategy around to attack Zebby instead, that’s a similar alternative in the same vein.

boggslite: Large-field tournaments – It’s a small slate, but the pitching options leave a lot to be desired, with only a few pitchers not expected to be capped by a tight pitch count. I plan to eat the chalk at pitcher with Zebby Matthews and Shane Baz, but I have interest in DJ Herz based on his matchup. I’ll get different with my bats by not fully stacking one particular team but rather building around the Nationals and Twins and using some one-offs from other teams.
