MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, April 9
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
CheeseIsGood: Bobby Witt Jr.
headChopper: Bobby Witt Jr.
stevietpfl: Bobby Witt Jr.
TJ Zwarych: Bobby Witt Jr.
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: I’m going to stick with smaller-field tournaments on a 3-game slate where we find the extremely condensed ownership on players who would not be chalky at all on a bigger slate. I really don’t like the large-field tournaments on a 3-game slate where absolutely everything gets played. I might do one Arizona stack in a single entry to play for an outlier, but I think my go-to strategy here will be to avoid full stacks altogether. That’s really the only way to be different without being silly on a slate this small. And where I do full-stack, I’ll just remove one obvious play to separate myself from the field. This would be something like a Royals stack without Bobby Witt Jr. or a Padres stack without Fernando Tatis Jr.
headChopper: It’s just a small, odd 3-game slate, so I just want to hand-build a lineup and run it in small- to mid-sized GPPs. I am not taking a big risk at pitcher. I’ll stick with the best arms. It looks like four solid pitchers and two arms to attack, so that will probably be what everyone does. I might try to get different by playing some Colorado lefties against a highly projected, highly owned Randy Vasquez.
stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on small-field contests. I find it tough getting off the Kansas City and San Diego chalk. I’m going to build a few lineups in smaller tournaments and just look for lower-owned secondary stacks and one-offs. Outside of Chase Dollander and Anthony Kay, I think all the other pitchers on this slate are viable.
TJ Zwarych: Despite the slate being really small, I’m still going to run out 150 lineups in large-field tournaments. I’ll get some exposure to every offense, but I’ll try to be overweight on both the White Sox and Mets, and I’ll go heavy on Nolan McLean and Randy Vasquez at pitcher.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
