MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, August 6
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
headChopper: Bobby Witt Jr.
stevietpfl: Bryce Harper (FD) / Matt Olson (DK)
Notorious: Bryce Harper (FD) / Matt Olson (DK)
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
headChopper: I am playing small-field tournaments and building just one lineup on each site. Early research has me locking in Cristopher Sanchez on FD as my pitcher and Ranger Suarez as my SP1 on DK. There just aren’t many options. After that on DK, I’ll be waiting for the MLB lineups to be released and looking for the weakest offense I can find to attack with my SP2. On slates this small, I hate committing to stacks because they often aren’t necessary, even though there are some good matchups available. I’ll build my hitters organically, searching for home-run upside, and if that naturally lands me on a stack, great. If not, no big deal.
stevietpfl: When building my first few lineups, I realized I liked one main build, so I’m going to focus on single-entry tournaments. I’m not a huge fan of slates with this type of pitching. On FD, it’s all about Cristopher Sanchez if the weather stays okay. On DK, I’m going to roll the dice on the two heavy favorites, Ranger Suarez and Martin Perez. On DK, I’m going to be different with the Red Sox over the Braves as my main stack. On FD, I’m going to pair the Phillies with a stack that is projecting for lower ownership. Overall, I’m going to focus on what I like more than pOWN% and just hope I’m on the right combos.
Notorious: I like to play small-field tournaments. On FanDuel, I want to load up on the Phillies. They are my favorite offense on the slate, and Cristopher Sanchez is my favorite pitcher on the slate. Since I’m eating a lot of chalk with Philadelphia, I will look to avoid the super chalky plays when filling out the rest of my lineup. On DraftKings, I like using Martin Perez as an SP2 for differentiation. He doesn’t have a high strikeout rate, but I like the floor that he provides in a nice matchup at home against the Marlins.
