What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
headChopper: I’ll be running one hand-built lineup in small-field GPPs. On 2-pitcher sites, I definitely like Luis Severino as my SP2 to get a little bit different. With only 4 games and 8 starting pitchers, I have 4 to choose from and can stack against the other 4, so my hitting will be mixed and matched between those teams.
Dean78904: We’re looking at a baby slate with no great pitchers and no super-appealing stacks. To me, that is the perfect setup for a “let’s get weird” slate, where you embrace variance and loosen up traditional lineup-building rules. This means I won’t feel obligated to build full stacks, and I’m comfortable rostering batters against my pitchers. More on that below.
ebeimfohr: I particularly enjoy smaller-field, single-entry tournaments on these smaller slates, and tonight is no exception. There are so few “good” plays that ownership condenses to pretty extreme levels. Tonight, I think the bats can be our huge differentiator since this slate is full of mediocre pitchers that we can attack, but there is only so much ownership to go around.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
