MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, March 26th

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Pete Crow-Armstrong
headChopper: Michael Busch
stevietpfl: Pete Crow-Armstrong
Notorious: Michael Busch

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I prefer large-field tournaments for the unknown of Opening Day. I am going to spread out much further than usual, hoping to catch the outliers. There is really no way to know which ace pitchers might be a little slow to get up to speed or just have short-enough leashes that the slate can be won with some late-inning shenanigans against bullpens. There are so many good pitchers that I think it’s a mistake to hone in on just 1-2 of them, and I’ll be underweight the chalk just because of that. I’m also going to make a few lineups with cheaper pitching, like Drew Rasmussen, in order to play high-upside bats that project for low ownership (e.g. Gunnar Henderson, Byron Buxton, Bryce Harper).

headChopper: I’m building 1 lineup for small-field tournaments on DraftKings and 50 lineups for large-field tournaments on FanDuel. Typically on Opening Day, it’s nothing but aces or each team’s SP1, but on this slate, we’re getting a few guys who don’t fit that category, and those are the spots I want to attack with my offensive positions. There are still 7 or 8 pitchers I would consider aces or true studs, and I want to spread out my exposure across that group. I will be more overweight on a couple of stacks than I will be on any particular pitcher.

stevietpfl: Opening Day baseball is one of my favorite slates of the year. Throughout the season, I typically play 3-5 lineups per site in small-field contests. On Opening Day, I usually end up building more than that. I want to be overweight on the pitchers with high-strikeout upside and who have been extended over 75 pitches in Spring Training. With my hitters, I want to attack bad bullpens. With so many aces on the mound, it’s hard to find an edge with stacks against starting pitchers. There are a few, but overall, I’m going to target bad bullpens.

Notorious: I like to dip my toes in the MME streets for sports that happen once a week, but I’m all about the single lineup when it comes to the daily sports. I’m going to put that single lineup in small-field and single-entry GPPs. I’m not looking to do anything too crazy on Opening Day, but I do want to get exposure to some of the newer players in the league that most DFS players have never heard of. I’m going to eat a lot of chalk with the Cubs, both with Matthew Boyd and their hitters.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
