Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

headChopper: I prefer building a single lineup for small-field tournaments tonight. It’s a small slate, so there will naturally be a lot of roster overlap. Houston’s implied team total is significantly higher than any other team’s on the slate. They’ll be chalky, but it’s tough to fade them in this matchup. In single-entry and small-field contests, I can eat some Astros chalk and differentiate elsewhere. Building just one lineup allows me to fade most of the field, including the Athletics, who will likely draw interest with the 2nd-highest team total. However, Peter Lambert is a solid pitcher, so I don’t mind fading the A’s bats. Once my hitters are set, I’ll evaluate my remaining salary for pitching and squeeze in two stud pitchers if possible. If I need to drop down to a salary saver for my SP2, I’m fine with that as well, though I’ll wait to confirm MLB lineups before committing to anyone.

stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on small-field tournaments. As the season draws to a close, lineups begin to fluctuate daily, so I want to continue prioritizing teams with something to play for. Tonight, that’s the Astros, who are locked in a battle with the Rangers for the AL West. Outside of targeting the Astros, Braves, and A’s, I’ll differentiate by fading the Dodgers. Pitching is pretty straightforward on this slate. If I’m paying up, I prefer Cam Schlittler, but I also like paying down for Bryan Woo and Tyler Mahle.

Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. The strategy seems pretty clear to me. It’s a great slate to spend down on pitching (Bryan Woo on both sites, Tyler Mahle as an SP2 on DraftKings) and load up on these hitters in great spots. There are 3 offenses that I truly love tonight in the Athletics, Braves, and Astros. While the expensive pitchers look appealing, they honestly don’t project much better than Woo and Mahle.
