What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

headChopper: I am playing one lineup in small-field tournaments. It’s a small slate, and I don’t think running multiple lineups will provide much of an advantage, so I’ll hand-build one. There is a conundrum on this slate. There are at least three solid pitching options who don’t cost a lot (Kade Anderson, Jake Bennett, and Shane McClanahan), so that would normally be the route I take. However, there is also plenty of good cheap hitting, and the expensive bats don’t stand out as particularly enticing. That means I don’t need the extra money that two lower-priced pitchers would give me, so I may just end up on Tarik Skubal. With the small slate, my hitting pool will be condensed, and I’ll handpick those guys with no regard to stacking.

stevietpfl: I’m going to play 3-5 lineups in small-field tournaments. I’m going to be all-in on Tarik Skubal and will just try to be different elsewhere. This is a don’t overthink it spot for me. On DK, I’ll pair Skubal with Jake Bennett, Kevin Gausman, or Kade Anderson. As much as I like Shane McClanahan and Logan Henderson, I find myself using cheaper SP2 options. Hitting-wise, as much as I like the Dodgers, it’s hard to stack them with Skubal, so I’m going to be underweight on them. I like the Red Sox, Rays, Mariners, and Marlins.

Notorious: I’m focusing my attention on single-entry tournaments. I’m going to eat a lot of chalk at pitcher. Tarik Skubal is the clear SP1, and I want to be overweight on Kade Anderson, who had some ridiculous numbers in the minors this season. I don’t need to get too unique in small-field tournaments, so to be different, I’ll target a few hitters who have low pOWN%. My favorite is Coby Mayo, who boasts an unreal .404 xISO against LHP this season.
