MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, August 13th
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
CheeseIsGood: Juan Soto
Dean78904: Juan Soto
Stevietpfl: Juan Soto
Alex Sonty: Juan Soto
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
CheeseIsGood: Michael King – There is just not enough out there to fade the one pitcher with realistic upside on this slate. King is up at a 28% K rate, while no one else on this slate tops an average of 23%. On top of that, he’s even more dominant at 31.4% K to righties and should see at least 5-6 righties, with four of them up over 25% strikeouts. This is chalk I am willing to be overweight on.
Dean78904: Michael King – They say you don’t have to be faster than the bear as you only need to outrun others running away from said bear. Applying that logic to a 28.3% K rate is not super elite, but it is very good, especially when you consider no one else throwing baseballs on the main slate tops 23.1%. The Pirates are an appealing matchup as this is how their active roster stacks up vs. RHPs – wRC+ 25th, ISO 23rd, K% 5th, BB% 20th. The idea of chalk Michael King feels pretty gross, but he has the highest ceiling and is really the only pitcher who can salvage a potential rough start with piling up punchouts, so here we are.

Stevietpfl: Michael King – I don’t love any pitcher tonight. With that said, we must play one or two of them, depending on the site you’re on. King has a 28.1% strikeout rate on the season. His swinging strike rate is up to 14.3% over the last month, and he’s done a fantastic job limiting the damage against lefties. The projected lineup has a 24.5% strikeout rate with a .154 ISO. The downside to King is that he just faced this team last week. I’ll be throwing out my rule and hoping King can take advantage of the Pirates tonight.
Alex Sonty: Michael King – Pitching is nauseating tonight, so I’m going with the top xERA (3.43) of King. His 10.51 K/9 is the only K-per-inning rate on the 9-game slate, and he has a good strikeout matchup. The Pirates pack a sneaky amount of power in their lineups, but King’s 5.5% barrel rate allowed should mitigate their strengths.
