MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, September 17
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
CheeseIsGood: Ketel Marte
Dean78904: Ketel Marte
Stevietpfl: Corbin Carroll
boggslite: Corbin Carroll
Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
CheeseIsGood: Michael Toglia – I expect the chalk on this slate to be Arizona bats, along with salary savers. This leaves a lot of ways to get different with spend-ups. While there is nothing sneaky about the Rockies, I don’t think we’ll see a lot of one-off Colorado bats. With Jordan Montgomery all the way down at a silly 13.3% K rate to righties this season, Michael Toglia is in a great spot with his .287 ISO and 17.5% barrel rate against lefties. I also expect to see a lot of the Arizona bullpen, and Toglia’s switch-hitting ability keeps him with the platoon edge all night.
Dean78904: Joc Pederson – Ya’ll ready for this? Joc Jams has the highest ISO and w/OBA vs. RHPs for an Arizona team that leads MLB in runs, and he is in Coors Field. I’m always a little concerned about paying a big price for a dude who often gets pinch-hit for when a left-handed pitcher enters the game. However, the Rockies only have one lefty in the pen (Luis Peralta) who has worked 4 of the last 6 days. Oh, and the D-Backs let Pederson hit vs. him yesterday. Let’s pretend he didn’t strike out, but letting him hit in a 2-2 game is the real headline for me. Assuming he grabs 4-5 at-bats in Coors few batters are better positioned to Pump Up the Jam than Pederson.

Stevietpfl: Kyle Schwarber – As much as I like the ARI/COL and OAK/CHC games, the left-handed power against Montas is a great spot. I like Bryce Harper just as much as Schwarber, but I think Schwarber has a higher ceiling. He has a .270 ISO with a .351 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. He also has a 67.6% hard-hit rate with a 17.6% barrel rate. Montas has a 17.8% strikeout rate with a .201 ISO and a .367 wOBA against left-handed hitters this season.
boggslite: Joc Pederson – Normally a GPP-only option due to the fact he often gets pinch hit for late in games, Pederson’s risk of getting pinch hit for tonight is mitigated by the fact that Colorado only has one lefty in their bullpen who pitched last night. Entering tonight’s game with a .405 wOBA and a .260 ISO against RHP, Pederson faces righty Ryan Feltner, who is not very tough against left-handed hitters. Hitting in the middle of the order of arguably the best offense in all of baseball, Pederson is a solid overall option who is priced down relative to the rest of his teammates tonight.
