MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, August 19

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

stevietpfl: Andy Pages
Notorious: Shohei Ohtani
TJ Zwarych: Andy Pages

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

stevietpfl: I’m going to focus on small-field tournaments. The Dodgers are in a league of their own on this slate. To be different, I’ll be underweight on them, despite thinking they’re still the best stack. I like the Rays, Yankees, and Royals as a pivot off the Dodgers. I’m going to focus on main stacks and hope one of these offenses can outscore the Dodgers at a cheaper price point. I think pitching is straightforward. I’m going to be overweight on Logan Gilbert, Parker Messick, and Chase Burns.

Notorious: I prefer small-field tournaments. While everyone wants to target the Dodgers in Coors Field, it’s extremely tricky to do if you are spending up on one or two of the top arms. While the individual hitters from the Dodgers will be popular, I don’t think the full stack will be popular. I’m looking to make it work on DraftKings by using Dustin May and Kumar Rocker at pitcher. On FanDuel, it’s a little easier to make the stack work with an expensive pitcher like Parker Messick.

TJ Zwarych: My preference is to play 150 lineups in large-field tournaments, and I’ll keep a tight pitching pool while spreading out my stacks. I’ll get as much exposure as possible to Parker Messick and Cade Cavalli while mixing in a small amount of the inexpensive Chris Bassitt so I can also get exposure to the Dodgers’ expensive bats.

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
