Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in large-field tournaments?
squirrelpatrol: Mike Trout
headChopper: Adolis Garcia
Dean78904: Adolis Garcia
eys819: Adolis Garcia
How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
squirrelpatrol: I don’t see much differentiation on this 3-game slate. I’ll go overweight the lowest-owned players with upside, going with stacks like the Angels and Rangers that should see lower ownership despite having power and speed upside. If I’m using one of the more popular pitchers in a lineup, I’ll try to find lower-owned stacks and hitters to pair with them, and I won’t hesitate to use a hitter against a pitcher in the same lineup.
headChopper: On a slate this size, I am only playing 1 lineup in GPPs. I am not setting out looking to stack for correlation or upside; there is no way around having some sort of stacking on a slate this small. My goal is to one-off the best players I can, and then at the end of the build, punt a position to get different from any duplicates out there.
Dean78904: I’ll be loosening up my traditional rules with the slate being so small and the arms so mid. By all means, roster hitters against your pitchers (hello lineups with Mike Trout AND Ryan Pepiot). I even think you can get away with more than one bat versus your arm. Another “rule” I’m open to overlooking is lineup construction / stacking. By all means, roll out your 5-3 stack, and I just might as well, but the idea of being a little different and HR/FB-vulnerable pitchers has me intrigued by a 4-2-1-1 or 3-3-1-1 type of lineup iteration and just home-run hunting.
eys819: I am likely playing just two pitchers on this small, 3-game slate, as I believe Ryan Pepiot and Jack Leiter have far more upside than any other pitcher. Griffin Canning is cheap, but he has struggled, and his velocity has been down to begin this season. On offense, the Rays and Rangers are my favorite options to get away from the Red Sox, who figure to popular.
